AKEBONO Ceramic Brake pads

I just bought AKEBONO Ceramic pads for the front and rear...they will arrive in 2 days. I will install and make a comparison for those that are contemplating the changeover to lower dust and better stopping pads!!

I cant wait!!!

They're badass! No dust, stop smooth but are very responsive.

You'll love them.

want to know pricing anything is worth not having to wash your wheels for pulling your car out for one day. The brake dust build up is the most annoying thing with my car.

Aftermarket hi-performance pads may damage your standard rotors and ceramic pads are prone to squeeeeeeeeeek. Let us know how it turns out in a few months of driving, maybe its not as bad as they say.

I hope I dont get noise!! I just got tired of all the brake dust forming up 1 days or two after I just washed up the car. I have been using OEM pads this whole time and Zimmerman rotors so hopefully it will work well.

It was VERY well priced, I can tell you that!!

I got them on Tirerack.com and Fed-Ex just dropped them off a couple of hours ago. It is too late to get them on right now so I will have to wait till tomorrow to install them.

Oh and my set came with the sensors in the box so now I have an extra set of sensors.

They should be fine with stock rotors but, I do have Zimmerman slotted rotors upfront and OEM rotors on the back.

I just got the pads installed about an couple hours ago and all I have to say is that at first I felt I needed to exert a little more pressure to get it to grab like my OEMs did. But, the instructions state that they need to be bedded in for 300 miles. I drove it about 50 miles through some aread that had alot of street lights and towards the end of the drive I could feel them have a lot more grip and stopping power at normal stops. I was not able to any hard or high speed stops because I want to get them bedded in properly.

During my test drive the brakes were completely quiet!!! No noise whatsoever coming from the brakes at all!! I hope they stay that way. Overall I am very happy with them.

My OEM pads always made my rims black after 3 days of driving. So, I cleaned up the rims and I will see how they look in 3 days and then I will let them stay that way just to see how long the rims take to get dirty with the new pads.

OH AND THE SENSORS COME WITH THE PADS SO YOU DONT HAVE TO BUY ANY AT ALL!!

I will keep you guys posted as to any dust or problems.

I was going to purchase them for my W209 but after a week of searching through threads I decided to go with Porterfield pads. What convinced me was a bunch of people switched from AKEBONO to PORTERFIELD and loved it. I bought the R4-S pads from (formymercedes.com) they are a little more expensive than the AKE's but they are worth it. Going to install them next week!

Any feedback short or long term would be great both on dust, feel and breaking power.

Thats exactly what I read on a couple of the forums. I have driven about 300 miles since I put the pads on and I still have clean and shiny rims!!! The original pads would have had my rims filled with black soot all over by now!!

I finally got a chance to really hit the brakes and these brakes really grip. I am VERY VERY happy with the brakes so far. I haven't had any noise at all BUT I didnt have any noise with my OEM brakes either. The 2 main thing I was looking for with new brakes were:

1. Stopping power / less fade
2. Less dust than my OEM's

I got both accomplished!!!

I need new rear brakes.

I am looking into the akebonos now. They seem like good ones.

I used to be a member of one that had lots of good info BUT, as soon as I got the CLK I didn't care much about the Navi anymore. Mine came with a 7 year , 75,000 mile warranty so I guess I am a little spoiled with that as well. As soon as the warranty is over I may be out searching for a forum again.

Anyway here is the site: www.lincolnowners.com
