Funny, I just posted on another thread on this subject. I was actually pleasantly surprised with the handling of mine. Needless to say, I used the winter mode and left my lead foot at home. Ice on the driveway caused some problems, but that's it. I was driving on the highway and felt very safe, even after I passed a Range Rover than ran off the road.

The past two years were fine. This year was terrible. I got stuck in 3 locations which were at an incline. I had to turn back and head the other way. Couldnt get home, so I had to go to my friend's house. The snow plows didnt hit the streets till 5:30 PM last thursday, so there were about 4 inches of snow on the roads. All the snow melted off my hood though becuase the engine was revving soooo much. As long as they plow the roads I'm cool. Traction control helps a lot, but if there is a thick layer of snow..........I'm screwed.

Snow tires make a huge difference. I have the Nokian snow tires on my C43 and it's very drivable in the snow. The summer tires are much worse.

I have the Bridgestone Blizzak LM22 matched to the stock 430 AMG wheels and have the local Firestone swap them out each winter and spring for free. They work well, even in this NW Ohio winter. I use the winter mode for the transmission and I have no problems. When the road is icy, the traction control light is "on" non-stop, but the car feels fine. I do keep my speed very low when the roads are covered in the first snow fall of the year.

The RWD was a major concern since I was originally from CA and have no experience driving in the snow. I sold my SUV and got the 430 because I couldn't help myself. But I don't think it's a problem to drive in the snow at all.

Just make sure you've undercoated your car and gotten the door, trunk and hood treatments before taking it out in the snow. I did that and still spray the underside with warm water from the garden hose once a week...just in case. My neighbors think I'm crazy, dressed up in my ski jacket, snowboarding mask, hat and gloves in the snow. My driveway literally steams with lukewarm water. Looks like a scene from Back to the Future when the Delorean pumps out all those smoke.

AMG CLK55 In Snow Driving - No Problema :-)

Amigo's
We Just Had A Pretty Bad Snow Storm Two Weeks Ago - Me And My CLK55 ///AMG Had No Problems Driving In It - I Simply Activated The Winter Mode Toggle - Mounted My M2 Winter Sport Tires Off We Went - 11" Deep And 40 Miles Later No Problems. The Car Was A Perfect Trooper. I Also Had My Concerns Driving In Fairly Deep Snow With So Much Power As The AMG Beast Has - But After Driving Various Porsches Models In The Winter I Felt Up For The Task. Bottom Line The Car Is Completely Drivable In The Snow - Just Mount Good Snow Tires And You Should Be Fine.
