Thinking about selling the 430 and getting a 55.

Now that I like the way my 430 looks I think I may sell it and get a CLK 55. I found a couple good deals and may have to jump on one.
55 guys chime in and convince me! It would definitely be nice to have more power.

Well, I just shortened my work commute so the mileage won't hurt at all.

If you like the CLK's do it. There's one here in Northern California going for 15k..To bad I'm bored of them or else I'd jump on it.

If you can afford it, i say "get it"

but if you were to get one, how much more would it cost as far as insurance goes? Is it that much of a difference. I really wouldn't know. I only have a 320.

DO IT! insurance change from my 99 430 to 01 55 went from about 1500 to 1600 per year. it was $90 diff. all for newer year model. the engine size makes little difference in insurance $ for these cars. i wouldn't take my decision back for anything. i get about 1-2 mpg less, but for the fun i have, that's nothing. my insurance is high b/c i'm 23 and have really good coverage.

I don't think insurance would be too much more.
Mine's cheap at $530 for 6 mo. for full coverage on my 430 anyway. I can't see it going up more than couple hundred every 6 mo.

I remember when you got yours you seemed pretty excited. I think it would definitely be worth it like you say. I am sure it is definitely faster. Is it still a one tire fryer like the 430?

When you compare a 4.3L V8 vs. 5.4L V8 engine, two(2) MPG is minimal b/c once you have 8 cylinders cranking, the 5.4L engine doesn't have to work THAT much harder to produce the extra HP/Torque.

Do it. You won't believe the difference in power. I had a 430 and the 55 is so much more fun to drive. I never took the 430 to the track but it felt like it would run low 14s my 55 went 13.01 that's a big difference.

Open diff, but both will stay lit if you hammer the gas. Go test drive one...that will help your decision.

Your ET was 13.01? What was your trap?

That is a good time! Must have been about 111 mph? I do really want one. Hopefully I can go look at one today.

my trap speed is low only 108.6 it was hot and humid that day 79 degree 85% humidity. most guys are saying they got 109-110 the first time I ran the car on a cool day it went 13.3@106.2 60' times for both runs were 2.0. I don't know why my trap speed is so low.

I've NEVER seen a 110 trap on a bone stock W208 CLK55. Nor have I seen a 13.01 ET - again for a stock W208/55.

The best I remember seeing on the boards was a 13.2X and a 109.01 trap.

Is your car stock?

Well I went and drove it today and couldn't pass it up! It was a one owner car, 81k miles, 2001, 18 inch wheels, and I got it for 15k! Now I have to order the springs, grill, hood emblem, and swap my wheels over! Oh, and get the windows tinted. I'll try to get some pics up sometime.

I used to have a 03 350z which feels like a slug compare to the CLK55. Gotta love the power!

Well, I will get pics up soon! I just haven't taken any because the springs are not in yet. Hopefully they'll be in early next week. Don't need to post pics of the 4x4 look right now.
Lovin it so far though!

Considering the higher maintenance and insurance costs are one thing, more than just the purchase price. I know many who could buy a Ferrari, but only about 10% of the people I have in mind could pay to maintain it.

This ain't no F-car though so if the extra bones out of your pocket yearly don't bother you, do it.
