AMG air box

hello, while scavenging for "mod" parts in local junkyards i came across an AMG 113 airbox for 75$ with barely used filters!!! but it was missing the front lid which i got for 140$ from another place... now all i need is the piping but cant find them any where and i am sure the stealership will want an arm and a leg for them... i noticed that my stock ones work with the help of a couple of zip ties.

my question is it ok to do so, or i will loose the extra ponies that it gives?

ya i think ppl have been able to force the stock ones on.......those pipes are fkin expensive as hell for no reason....i paid about 100$ for each AMG pipe WITH a hook up

im guessin the 430 pipes will still work and will still help with the increase but for maximum increases - the 55 pipes would prob b best since theyre a little bigger

i just put them on, yeah a forced them in but the drivers side one is a bit flimsy and i think i will put a large zip tie or a metal bracelet (it wont show thank fully) and the cover will also need a bit of trimming on the side of the pipe... but i really felt the difference esp on wide open throttle i was really surprised that i would feel the performance... i feel its become relaxed from 4000 rpm to red line...

Was there not a review here last year that showed the 55 airbox basically was no improvement, but surprisingly the 320 airbox showed gains? Given that, I don't see where the price is justified.

well you may have a point... i saw this thread b4 and there was a pissing contest too about Porsche and Ferrari... if feel there is an improvement... even if i wanted to dyno the car i have no access to one here... so the only thing i have is my feeling ... i know i sound lame but this is the truth...

i think some ppl got a decent hp gain just by adding the AMG box. maybe u should do a before/after dyno - this will help

as far as the 320 setup. i think it helps a lot at top end. there is c43 (w/ 5.4l engine) that has this setup, and that thing is crazy fast.

$75? Awesome score! Clearly the guy didn't know what he had.
