lowering gurus?

Hey guys, i know this question has been asked many many times but my question is slightly different. I dont want to change my stock springs to lower my car because of great highways and streets we have in nyc But i do however want a little drop, by changing #1 pads all around, do you guys think i will notice a drop? And by searching on the board i came up that #1 (9mm) for front and 17 mm for rear are the thinnest pads correct? So will i really notice a drop or not? Also i am going in for an alignment so i thought i can get the pads changed as well. what do you guys say?

no pads will give you a more noticeable drop but most people are chickens about doing that so just get the #1 pads and call it day.

Why would they be chicken about it? is it because it can damage the springs or your car's suspension or something? I would be chicken about it if it will damage something but if its giving me a nice little noticable drop to fill that little gap that i have between my 19s and fenders then ill go for it.

i remember reading in another benz forum rust developing in the area where the pad should be. Maybe a little cushion as well. For #4 to #1 pad i noticed almost 3/4" drop on my 190e

I removed all 4 pads and heard noises from the springs shifting around. You can trim the pads to keep them from rotating.

that was because of bad placement...but you are right...you can just trim down the pad just so that it sits in place for the spring to be centered.

i asked the dealer today as well about removing the pads and they said they dont recommend it and if i do remove them then my camber needs to get adjusted or something and will cost more. i dont even know how the pads look like to trim them, i guess ill just put the e class pads.
