Alarm problem - unit keeps falsing -- can alarm be removed?
The damn alarm on my car keeps going off for no good reason.
Is there some way to disable it, completely?
Or, alternatively, is there some way to bypass/disable the shock / tilt sensor?
I'm tired of it screeching all the time, and frankly I think alarms are a complete waste. The anti-theft aspect is useful but the howling siren and flashing lights do nothing but irritate me and kill my battery while the car is parked.
Damn POS went off 3 times at the park today when I was less than 100 feet away, and NOBODY else was in the park with us.
I want it removed at best, disabled next and if I can't do that at least bypass the tilt sensor. Maybe it needs a new alarm brain. Just what I want to waste some money on.

The first thing I'd check would be the hood, trunk, and door sensors. If the interior light never flickers while you drive, I'd skip the door sensors.

I thought about the hood sensor.. hm.. I should look into that more closely. THX!
Interior lights doing flicker so.. I think the door sensors are OK. I'm assuming the hood sensor is easy to locate?

I had an issue with my alarm going off randomly, even with the doors unlocked and the alarm not technically set. Turned out to be a faulty siren. Good luck in finding the culprit.

Welcome to my hell.
So.. I finally have time to go looking for the hood sensor. Uh.. any pointers on where it is and what it looks like?
Is it integrated into the latches on the radiator support, or somewhere else? I'm about done with the brakes on the car and will be driving it again soon so I need to figure this out. :/

I just pulled the fuse on mine. I took it to the dealership and it had a short in it. I ordered a new alarm system from the dealership about 3 weeks ago, it is on backorder, of course.

I hunted around the hood again last night (while letting 3 in 1 liquid wrench try to break the rust of my front rotors so I could get the POS things off). It seemed like there was a switch on the driver's side (left) hood latch. Could that be the hood sensor wire?

I ended up breaking the switch off the driver side hood latch. I don't know if that is the alarm switch for the hood but it was the only thing that looked like it could be.
Alarm did not go off immediately when set, nor did the car tell me my hood was open so.. maybe that will resolve this issue once and for all. Alarms are primarily annoy, not stop crooks. Besides, that is one of the reasons I have a low insurance deductible.
