starting problem on 99 clk430

starting problem on 99 clk430
I recently purchased a 99 clk430 and once every day or week or so the engine would turn over once, then stop. If I turned the key off and tried starting it again it would always start. Concerning none the less.
I replaced the batteries in the key, then ordered a new key, neither of which resloved the starting problem.
After searching the web for TSB's for the clk line I came across an article from Consumerguide.com. It says: "The starter stops running before the engine is running due to lack of grease on the starter drive gear. (1998)"
I hope this resoleves the issue and will keep you posted. I'm having the car serviced on Tuesday and installing the Evosport UD pulleys and will have it done then.
I hope that is the solution!

I was going to buy a Silver 1999 CLK430 before I bought mine. That car would not start at all when you turned the key, after attempting a few times it would start. The salesman ***** told me that I was putting the key the wrong way in the ignition switch.?
I never had that problem with mine, I turn the key for a second and the car starts alone.

A new battery was installed immediately after this happened for the first time but the problem remained, which has brought me to the starter issue!

Got my car back about mid-day on Tuesday and no starting problem thusfar. He said he had to remove the starter in order to grease the trouble area. He also said the start was easy to remove. I'll let you know if this did not completely resolve the starting issue.
He did not have time to install the underdrive pulleys so that gets put off until next week! aaarrrggghhh!
