Hi everyone,
so I bought my 2000 CLK320 today and just now heading back home from my brothers place I noticed while at a redlight that there was a weird noise coming out of nowhere..like a belt..pulley..
so I just opened the hood and notice that the *main* pulley thats in the middle of the engine..the big 1..theres a rubber/bushing (?) in the centre of it which snapped and now the pulley Im guessing is wobbling or something and its making a weird noise like tick tack..clack..
when I started the car its very loud but then after 2-4sec it goes quieter..
So id like to know if its dangerous for me to drive the car like this..maybe take it to a local mechanic or something?
Is this a big job? Anyone experienced this?

I did experience it its only the pulley bearing , you have to change the pulley , find witch one is doing the noise and replace it , its not that expensive go on www.autopartsway.ca and buy it. Do it before its too late , I waited too long and the pulley jammed and set fire to the belt due to friction , So I had to buy A new belt and a new pulley , but it was kinda funny.
btw it jammed after like 1 month after the noise started so its not a big rush

Do not start the car. Have it towed to your local dealer and pray you haven't devoured the timing cover and/or oil pan. It's going to be six to seven hundred if the cover and pan are OK and in the area of twenty-five hundred if they’re not.
If you were the original owner, MB USA *might* good will a portion of the repairs. Ditto if you just bought the car from a Mercedes Benz dealer. You may wish to ask "very nicely".
Anyone who considers purchasing a used Mercedes Benz may wish to use this as a learning experience and pay for an inspection at a dealer.
