Does anyone know where I can purchase the painted front bumper lenses for my 2002 430?

you won't get your painted side marker at least in next a half year. Evosport is having a difficulty to find a bodyshop... I think... I ordered one last November... but still haven't received it. I understand the situation of Evosport, but I had to cancel my order...

Just pop them out take them to a body shop and have them painted. It shouldn't be more than 50 bucks; or better yet have them shave the light out completely and paint the moulding. It looks a lot better.

If you do have them painted make sure whomever paints them ,block sand the lens. This will take the writting off of the surface. You probably have not noticed it, but run your fingers over the lens and you will feel it. This will show up when you paint them. It is a much better job if you do this. I really don't know how Evosport made any money by providing this service. I feel they were breaking even at best by charging as little as they did for the lenses. I bought two new lenses and had them painted and I think I had about $100 in them. They turned out great and I put the original ones up, in the event I wanted to change back. Evosport is a good company, and I feel they had to have several orders to go to the paint shop to even break even. That's why it takes so long to get your order filled. You just have to be patent, and sometimes that's hard to do.

Not to intentionally slam on Evosport but when I ordered mine, I never saw it. I just kept hearing "It will come within the next 2 weeks."

So I just bought OEM ones from the dealer for $30 /pair, had a bodyshop sand them smooth to remove the raised letterings, and painted with flex black paint all for $20. It may have been cheap because I also had my grille sand-blasted and painted black...so I paid $140 total.

Given that the painted lens costs $85 from evosport, I think it's way cheaper if you brought it yourself to a bodyshop, just find a good one and if you have another part you want painted, include it also so the initial cost of parts won't double-up.

Larry... Here you go...Part # 208-820-01-21 and 280-820-02-21 one was $17.50 and the other was $18.50. Why the difference in price is beyond me. Reg. price was $22.50 and $23.00. I have part # for the AMG pedals for under $50.00 they really dress up the floorboard. Slip the others off and slip the AMG ones on. Hope this helps!!

What's the part # for the AMG pedals? Is it OEM? $50 sounds pretty good. Where are they available? At dealers?

I saw some AMG pedals, but I don't think they were OEM and they required drilling, which I didn't want to do.

I haven't seen the AMG pedals, what do they look like? Those pedals on ebay look more like AC Schnitzer pedals for BMW, only with AMG on them... hmmm

GBD,
I'm also looking for pedals that I can swap out the old ones for. I've seen the ones on e-bay and I e-mailed the seller and he verified that yes they do require drilling into your existing pedals.

I think what he means by AMG pedals are actually SLK pedal pads. You can get them from MBZ, direct replacement (5 minutes to install) and I bought mine for around $35. Much better looking than stock and no drilling required.

Click on my link and there's a pic of them in my CLK.

Damn! You even changed the parking brake pedal! Looks awesome!

I think my sis's SLK has a hand parking brake and no 3rd pedal. What did you use for the foot parking brake pedal cover? Or does the SLK pedal kit come with all three pedals?

By the way, love the wood additions to the steering wheel (especially the the ones on the airbag!).

Do you mean

208 820 01 21
208 820 02 21

I'm going to assume for now that that's what you mean. And thanks!

Thanks for the compliment! I think that steering wheel makes a huge aesthetical difference from the stock steering wheel. Along with the burlwood shifter, the steering wheel brings the whole interior together.

Here are the part numbers for the pedal pads if your interested. You have to order each one seperately and they ran me $32 for all three.

Accelerator pad # 170 300 00 04
Brake pad # 170 290 01 82
Parking brake pad # 230 430 00 84

Thanks for the parts numbers. Is that a brand new drop in steering wheel, or wooden parts that you mated to your OEM steering wheel?

Painted Side Marker

Daveskee she looks awsome!!

Hey guys, I have my 2003 430 in the shop right now getting an "EvoSport Purchased" MHDezent CL style hood/grill put on her. Thought I might as well get my side markers painted also.

Question:

If painted, will the "blinker light" still show through??? I don't think so.

For my Florida compradres, is this legal????

Also, can my body shop use the same paint as the body paint??

Please let me know before I make the call!!!

Thanks !!!!

P.S. Ben, any comments?!!!!

Ola,

Depending on the color of the car, very little (if any) light will shine through. I actually moved my bulbs and wiring (do not disconnect them, or you will set off a bulb-out code), so it wouldn't shine through. I would recommend that you have them painted while they are at the shop. It's one of those easy-subtle changes that makes a huge difference in the way the car looks.

To get a ticket or not....That is the question !

Thanks Ben, now I just need to find out if it's legal down here in SoFlo ! FHP and Metro-Dade usually trips over stuff like that !

There was a guy here on the forum months ago that is a FHP. I believe he lives in Central Florida. He gave me some advice on "clear lens" tail lights. Does anyone know him???

I don't think it's legal here in CA either, but if the cops don't know that it's not supposed to be body-color matched, how could they say anything about it?

i don't think painting side markers are illegal since not all cars are equipped with them. just like the blinking side mirrors, you can change those too since those are not 'required' by DOT standards.
