DO I paint the clk 2 tone???

I have been driving around talking to different paint shops in hopes of finding the right one. I finally found one here locally that has done some Benz's, BMW's and Lexus. A couple were all black and they were BEAUTIFUL!!!! I am going to get this guy to paint my car now.

He could easily do the black paint but he also asked me about doing a nice 2 tone for just a little more!!

I like the way OPAL's car looks since his body goes along with the wild paint but I want a classy look that wont make it look like ugly.

Does any one have any suggestions as to what color I should use along with the base color of black and maybe some sweet designs?

And now for the POLL....DRUM ROLL PLEASE....should I 2 tone the car or NOT???

for the 2tone...youll prob need at least some wheels to go along with it...you need other aggressive parts to compliment the look...if wheels are on the horizon, i say go for itt

also, are you on stock suspension?

did u want to do a black base or black up the middle n top like i have and like opal has now...?

either way, if ur tryna stay semi conservative, i say go for a black/gunmetalish combo.... black base with gunmetal up the middle, on the roof, n top of trunk with some gunmetal wheels would be pretty sik....almost like freddys (acb3nz)...or even a silver or white or somethin up the middle would be nice...and different but mayb a lil more extreme

I like both Opal and Deyainrdy4ds did even though I think D was the first to run that color scheme though.

That kit of Opal is the hottest around.

I guess it boils down to what colors you like first and your personality.
Then you want to ask yourself how you want your color combination / theme e.g. mostly Dark over Light / Light over Dark.
Also do you want a major color transition or something subtle.

No offense but the guy who just did the Black on Silver looks like a Bad Haircut / Fade. Something about the way the rear of his vehicle looks is not balanced and is inconsistant with the lines of the CLK.

I definitely want to stay with the black base and my first idea was silver up the middle like yours. I showed it to my and she didnt like the silver.

GUNSILVER would look good I think?? I was trying to think of a two-tone theme that would still look like it was made that way from the factory....so I was thinking of doing a dark siler about 1 inch below the window line and all the way around the car??

Too many ideas and too little time since I have to keep driving around with the car all messed up. The will not give me a rental until I turn the car in for the actual repair since it is still drivable.

Why don't you keep the factory gloss black, and 2-tone it w/ a satin or matte black down the center?

i think the gloss black/satin black combo looks sick , yet classy at the same time.

OPAL,

NOW THAT would still look clean but different "which is what I am looking for"..I do see some 19" HRE's in the future but just not now with 2 mortgages. So its still gotta look good with my original rims but killer when I finally upgrade!

Anyone have photoshop willing to make a pic of the gloss black with satin black center? Or does anyone have pics of any car with this style??

Greg

OH AND BY THE WAY!!! YOUR RIDE IS SICK!! I was never a fan of the widebody's I had seen but you pulled it of really well. SWEEEEEETTTTT

I didnt know that the black with silver was already done? Thats the idea I told the shop but then decided to wait and see what I could think of. I want to stay with something dark color, no glitter junk or transitions. I just want something subtle yet different to stand out a little.

if u wanna stick with the gloss black base, def a +1 on the flat or satin black up the middle...thatd b sick too and subtle since that seems to be more of what youre looking for....then jus get some flat black wheels with gloss black lips and murder that btch out! lol......and i personally obviously prefer the way i did it up the middle and just on the top...over the way along the bodyline on the side (like the silver/black one), but its on u

I was thinking about doing the same when I repainted my CLK but based on these pictures I'm glad I didn't. The CLK just doesn't have the body lines to pull off a 2 tone. You gotta keep it clean and 1 color. Pick a nice color and go with it. Black is always FTW!!! And always remember any color change is going to require door jambs, trunks, hoods, etc to be painted from the inside as well which = mo $ mo $ mo $

my advice: keep it black!

Right now I am really interested in the flat black on the top. The body shop will have some colors for my wife and I will look at.

She has serious issues with me 2 toning it so that is why I am trying to find a subtle way to do it. HOPEFULLY IT WORKS!

Honestly....you should get some:

1) wheels 1st

2) and a drop

Then worry about painting the car. And depending on what color or style of wheels you get you will either need to paint your grill or leave it alone BUT PLEASE DO NOT GET ONE OF THOSE HIDEOUS STAR GRILLS!

Though not a big "modder" myself, I enjoy seeing everyone else's. I have seldom seen a two-tone benz that I would want to drive, but can imagine a satin or flat / gloss two-tone CLK being pretty darn cool lookin'. (I do like the way Opal's looks, but wouldn't do it myself.)

So--do the black / black two-tone thing.

(FWIW, I think CLK Fan's is about the nicest I've seen.)

haters crazy
I wouldn't do a 2 tone unless its flat/gloss black and even then it has to be done properly. Not like the silver/black car posted where its just a solid line transition to a different color straight down the car. I would personally look into a really nice color that I like and paint the whole car that color.

Done....I turned the car in and I didnt like the idea myself when the paint chip/slide (or whatever its called) was put up against the car.

The car is going stock black but the painter said that he would do extra on the wetsanding and glazing so that it would come out extra glossy. He could have been telling me that to get me out of the shop finally but I hope he wasnt lying.

STOCK GLOSSY BLACK FOR ME again just like the POLL wanted.
