AMG 80mm Throttle body on CLK430?

I was wondering if i could mount an AMG 80mm TB on my 2001 clk430? I have heard of it being done on a SL500 but the TB had to be fabricated to open the right way.

Thanks!

Maybe someone from VRP can chime in here, but yes, I think any car with the M113 engine can use the 80mm TB.

It's certainly not the cheapest mod, but it should result in some pretty good gains with a good airbox.

not only does it cost a fortune but your 4.3L cannot benefit any from it, 74mm is more than enough to handle anything your CLK430 can throw at it, especially a non AMG 4.3L. You can easily pickup a good 30-40 HP alone from bolt on minds that will cost you ALOT less than a 80mm TB. Airbox is where the restriction is in your intake system, NOT the throttle body infact thats one of the last parts you need to address. Upgrade headers, cats, crank pulley, software, intake airbox, muffler etc. big bore throttle body is always the last NA mod you are supposed to do otherwise its not really any beneficial at all.

Clk with blower

I can understand if it was an n/a but I have an HPS upgraded blower that includes , amg air box, headers, exhaust, PTE thermostat and spacers, intercooler and a few other goodies! I am in the process of porting the blower and inlet so i am trying to decide if i should port the blower out to match 80mm if i can get it to fit or bore out the 74mm with S/C and inlet to match or just bore the blower and inlet out to match the 74mm TB?
Any advice would be appreciated, Thanks

I've been looking for a bigger TB for a while and heard the electronics form a 80mm TB will not work on ours. But hey, if you find out it does work i'll buy one! Thats the one bottleneck left on the intake side for me

You literally CANNOT bore out the M113 throttle body, its impossible to bore to 80mm b/c the outside diameter of the M113 throttle body walls is 80mm. M113 cannot get any larger, You can only upgrade to the 80mm throttle body OEM housing which everyone knows it costs a fortune, not worth it, just mod something else in order to get the extra power you are looking for, hope that helps.

But will the 80mm tb work on our cars? I've heard the answer is no. I dont have much else to modify to make power

I heard it is not a very good fit since it is very bulky and honestly is not a great mod (from what I've heard). Your money is better spent on weight reduction than it is on an 80mm TB.

Battery upgrade alone will save 40lbs, sparetire/tools/jack is another 50lbs, upgrading/removing some of the exhaust components will pick up even more power, etc etc. there are other things you can do but it starts getting pricey (Upgrade seats, CF body panels) etc. But the biggest weight savings is in the seats, stock seats are at least 80lbs each and rear seats combined are roughly 40-50lbs so it adds up, but I understand not wanting to mess with interior.. its a benz.
