Gas tank

Hi,

Question, I can't fill my tank full, it stops at 2/3 full. It happened after I had a smog check last week. Any idea? Thanks.

what do you mean "it stops at 2/3.."????

YOU control how much fuel goes into the tank.....not the pump.

I heard if there is any problem in the gas tank, I have to change the whole gas tank, is that right?

Or is it something I can do by myself? Many thanks.

Some dude at school had a similar problem. he has a G35 and a C-Class. It happens to him every once in a while. During the hot days, and hard driving. the gas tank has lots of "hot air", so if you open that tiny flap and let it air out for a few seconds. it'll fill up.

try that.

it happened to me a few times before too. i was like... what the f*ck?

Did it work? I have a friend with a Ford, pump always stops on her and its a major task to fill up. Ford quality FTW.

The CLK actually has two gas tanks connected by a hose, so there could be numerous problems related to this. The most common is the tank senders, which seem to go bad and not report the correct amount of gas you have. Mine are off by at least 1/4 tank.
