Rear Diff oil top up

need to know what gear oil to use to top up the rear diff and how.

Instead of topping it off, why dont you do a complete drain and fill. When I did it to mine the fluid came out looking like nasty chocolate milk LOL.

Only buy the fluid from an MB dealership as they use a special fluid. Maybe someone here can recommend a similar fluid that can be bought at a parts store but I was also told to only buy the gear fluid at MB.

i drained and filled with 80w-90 lubromoly at $40 for a 2 bottles from NAPA.

had to replace mine due to a bit of knocking noise in the rear diff now its gone replaced 2 litres of the oil with new castrol diff oil.

Had mine serviced by MB dealership for $120. Noticed some rear end slippage & traction cntrl light flash when accelerating around turns...... no probs since.

Is there a drain plug and refill plug on the diff? I just hit 50k on my 03clk430conv and figured it was time. Also what's the capacity, less than 2qt?
