At last...the UD pulleys installed!

Got my car back today with fresh oil, new speakers all around, new sub and the UD pulleys and am I having fun! A more spirited acceleration and very strong pull...relatively speaking of course for you s/c'd folks! A real blast at 3000+ rpm's!

Thanks Evosport! Now when the snow stops I'll get the Carlsson suspension swapped out and new tires!

How much is the UD pulley cost? who makes them?
Can you feel the difference in the acceleration?

Unfortunatelly, I can't give you long term results, I have mine installed on 1/3/03 and have put only 538 miles to my car with them. So far, so good!!!

$499 @ www.evosport.com
Yes, you can feel the difference in the acceleration, and more if you add performance air filters like K&N or itg and a performance exhaust like eisenmann or AMG

You can feel the difference in acceleration from dead stop, but I really haven't had much time to test the upper ranges.

Frappe, Evosport is a board sponsor and they sell them on their website for $499. It takes about 3 hours to install and your mechanic needs to have a "certain" pulley kit to remove the power steering pulley.

I might get it in the future. I'm not really into speed
a stock 430 is good enough for me

with the pulley kits, has anyone experienced problems with their batteries charging or any other alternator problems?

Is it true that the UD pulleys don't show real performance differences unless you upgrade from your stock exhaust?

The ud pulleys alone will put 13 HP at the wheels.

My guess is a shop that doesn't make (and probably doesn't understand) UD pulleys told you this? They will work regardless of what modifications you do or do not do. All they do is make reduce the amount of energy that the engine is wasting on the accessories, freeing up that power to be used at the wheels (where it belongs). This really is the easiest, least risk, hp upgrade for your car. It does not affect the engine in any way, it only takes power (that already exists), and adds it to the wheels.

Call me if you'd like. I'd be happy to explain in detail how they work.

Thanks,

Ben

PS

Exhaust is probably the least worthwhile (in terms of HP) upgrade for your car.

Do UD Pulleys (not to be confused with larger crank pulley) work just as well for Supercharged cars?

It depends on the supercharger. They do work, but gains may be less, as the supercharger becomes the part that requires the most effort to spin, not the accessories.

I must say I am really surprised at what a difference the UD pulleys make. I now know what ~13 hp at the wheels feels like. The acceleration is much more crisp and clean and it makes me grin when it touch the gas!
