extended warranty
I recently purchased a 2001 430 blk/blk w/22k miles. I'm planning on purchasing a mercedes warranty for 5yr 100k @ $2956. What's you opnion on the extended warranties?? are they worth the price? and if so ami I getting a good deal?

MBUSA has 2 types of extended warranty....make sure your's is the PREMIUM one that covers almost everything except the electronics.
I think it's worth it if you are planning to keep the car for a while.

What state are you in? and from where did you get that quote from? Thanks...
As someone already mentioned, extended warranties are good if you plan to keep the car for a while. The price you quoted sounds right as that is what i've heard from independent warranty companies. The common justification for the warranty is that if you car has 1 or 2 major problems then the warranty would have paid for itself already.

Make sure it is a Mercedes warranty and not other aftermarket warranty. I paid $2900 for extra 2 years/100K miles for my 2002 E55 and $1900 for 2 more years or Starmark warranty for my 2001 CLK55( it came with 1 year/100K miles Starmark and existing warranty) I am planning to keep my cars for at least another 5 years and extra protection is worth the price. Now if you purchased a preowned CLK you should of bought the Starmark warranty at the time of purchase, and from my understanding, you can't buy Starmark warranty after you took delivery. So make sure it is the Mercedes warranty. Another advantage of the Mercedes extended warranty is it does not kick in until you bring your car in for service after your original warranty expired.

I'm in MD and i'm buying it from the dealer. Correct it's not starmark it's "ultimate coverage". The lady is the business office claims it's better than the MB warranty!! I doubt that but as long as it covers most major stuff. I plan on keeping ths car for at least 4 yrs so i guess this is a good investment.

2001 CLK430 Cab.
Some CLk/MB owners cannot get the extension of the original warranty for variuous reasons. You can still get the Daimler/Chrysler extended warranty. I'm not sure what the differences are but the Daimler/Chrysler one covers most items and work has to be done by a Mercedes dealer.
