2005 CLK55 COUPE
Polyurethane bushings gives you a firmer ride/feel therefore not giving you a smoother ride but it makes for a more solid feel when driving. At least in my opinion based on my other cars.

Can someone explain to me what the two small muffler looking thingies are in the center? What is my Supersprint Muffler and Resonator connecting too in the center with the Y pipe?

99CLK320,
J=Japan. What Marcus is saying Jimmy is that your car only has one set of cats back where the second set sits, or somewhere there abouts, on US vehicles, as well as only one set of O2 sensors. Now that I think of it, that could have everything to do with the Powerchip tune turning out as poorly as it it did. U hav verwy stwange caa Jimmyson.

David got it exactly right. US spec (specification) cars have four cats. Two up front, one on each side. The two lumps on the left side of this photo are cats. Pre-cats/warm up cats, or whatever you cats are calling them nowadays. You appear to have just pipe there.

The only pair of cats on your car sit exactly where my second set of cats are, but I don't have the little bracket that you do.
HEY, your exhuast looks just like MEL'S, but FACTORY. Hmmm . . . . . . so Mel is selling ultra-rare J-spec (Japan Specification) exhaust. I wonder if it's that way for all ROW (rest of [the] world - anywhere outside the US) CLKs . . . . . . just two cats . . . . . .

This also happened in the C63 forum with the USDM vs. ROW airboxes.

He has a 3.2 liter. The absolute maximum CFM his engine could flow is 339 CFM (6000 RPM at 100 percent volumetric efficiency). Now, 100% volumetric efficiency is WAY HIGH/impossible, but we’ll use this number. Since half his exhaust flows through each cat, that means each cat has to flow less than 170 CFM. What good does it do to buy a cat that flows 3 times as much as the engine?
If he HAS to replace the cats anyway, sure, buy 500 CFM cannons. If he doesn’t need cats, and his factory cats flow more than 170 CFM, isn’t a new pair of cats a waste of money? It’s like buying tires that are rated for 300 MPH, when the existing 170 MPH tires are perfectly good AND the car is only good for 150.

Headers don't change the fact that 3.2 liters can't flow 340 CFM at 6000 RPM. It’s the physical limitation of a non-boosted engine. The only way that cats are a bottleneck is if they don't flow 170 CFM. If you're saying the OEM cats can't flow 170 CFM, we'll have to agree to disagree.

In Japan, one CAT mod they do is to open the CAT and run a straight pipe on the inside. Japan Car inspections only check under the car to see that your CATS are there.

thats essentially what i did to my first set of cats (the ones you dont have)....just took them out and gutted em and blew everything out....so theyre empty basically like a straight pipe...the second set of cats were deleted for straight pipes that were welded in
