OBX HEADERS

Hey Guys,

I was browsing eBay and I came across these headers and I was wondering if these headers are a worthy upgrade for the price?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-H...Q5fAccessories

Thanks,
Steve

I wonder how they are able to keep a set of headers down to $300 and interesting how it nor any other Mercedes parts are listed on their homepage.

I used to have that on my HOnda...The gasket that they provided keeps burn out and ended up with hole on the header. I know its not on a Benz but im just sayin. You get what you pay.

There are not a lot of room around the exhaust port. 1st thing its hard to work on changing out the header, you might want to do it right the 1st time. 2nd so many things can catch on fire around that area. I rather save my money pay insurance.

99CLK320,
any short tube header will give you a bit more hrspwr. I have ghostrider's headers on my 320 and am pleased with the increase. no, I didn't dyno it bu Williams007 did. Long tube or race headers will give you more but you run into the issue of eliminating the primary cats and O2sensors which would then necessitate an ECU tune to compensate or, relocate the sensors downstream before and after the secondary cats which ghost did and was successful. And, you are right, you get what you pay for.

Well, I guess I'll see if I got what I paid for! Just purchased them for my 55. Curious to see the quality, sound, and perf increase!

I managed a few speedshops in Canada years ago, one of them sold OBX products. They were'nt fantastic quality compared to higher end brands but I never had a set come back due to poor build quality. Andy (M-bENZ) is 100% correct in saying that the gaskets are crap - get better ones. If you torque them down to spec, then re-torque them after a few days of driving I think you might be happy/surprised with what you got for 3 bills. Just don't expect anything more than cosmetics, a little better sound and minimal hp/mpg gains. Like you said "$300 trial".

I've never seen the MB ones but sold quite a few for Honda's such. Post up some pics after the install.

Just heard back from the seller. The inlets are only 1 5/8" and the collector is 2.5"

Wee bit smaller than i was hoping for. An extra 1/8 or 1/4 inch on the runners would be better. I would like 2" and 3" but that might drop backpressure too much.

dont know bout 2" on the primaries... a BBF will only run 1 7/8" and thats a ton more air. Admittedly a whole different rpm range but I would think 1 5/8" for our motors should be large enough??
