Inside our motor mounts.. MUST SEE!!

I realize there are tons of threads on motor mounts but I havent seen posts regarding the design. An mb member posted https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...ount-ever.html I checked mine and the motor popped up 4 -5 inches just like the vid!! Other than some vibration while stopped at D or R, there was nothing to indicate that the MM was in this condition. The driver side mount came out in 2 pieces..

The question is.... what is supposed to stop the engine from rising up like that even with a new motor mount? It looks like a week rubber stop (2nd pic) and the rubber boot is the only thing preventing the torque from destroying the motor mount.

Does anyone if this is the same on the w209 mounts? Is there any aftermarket alternatives?

If I recall correctly, I believe Marcus said that the W209 motor mounts do fit in our cars. I also want to say that the W211 motor mounts fit as well.

Maybe he will jump in here an comment on this...

Sorry I wasnt clear, I installed the w209 mounts but they look the same as the w208. I just dont see how such a design could hold a motor in place. Could the vacuum seal hold the mount together?

Very interesting. I was just under my car doing some steering system work and almost attempted the motor mounts. I have two that I ordered and have been meaning to do, I just don't know if I can do the install. Does it make that much of a difference?

I did the test where you put the car in drive, hit the brakes, give it a little gas and watch the motor. My father was watching and told me it didn't lift up that much at all. I have 117K on my car though...I am pretty much guaranteed to have bad mounts at this point right?>

your mm is broken. When I took mine out, they were drained of oil and had lost all hydrolic pressure, however they still would not extend past the physical stop point. You'd have to hammer on that broken mount for a long time to break it completely.
