2001 CLK 430 - Need Help
Hi,
Since recently i started faloving this forum and i have to say i like it realy much.But now i have an opportunity to change my car and i would like if someone could give me the advice. Currently i have 2004 Chrysler Crossfire and i can buy 2001 CLK 430 Convertible with 100k for $7500, new paint, new roof, everything works fine, Mercedes dealership checked it.
My question would be should i buy it or not? And if i do, is there any possibility of getting extended warranty and what problems can i encounter.

buy it and sell the crossfire.if im not mistaken the crossfire has the same v6 that comes in the clk 320.which they dont sell alot of things for if ur interested in do n mods to.for problems on the 430.not many things go wrong wit mercedes.but when something does parts are not cheap.always good to have a good amount of money stashed away for incase.i have a 2001 clk 320 and i can just imagine u would have alot more fun in the drop top.i say go for it!!!

I have a 2001 CLK320 Cabrio with a roof and paint still in perfect condition.
That new paint and roof didn't come cheap......and their asking only $7,500 (below market value)?????
Something doesn't seem right.
Next steps......get at a carfax report (e.g. check for salvage title, accidents, mileage history etc.) and carefully review the maintenance/repair records.

First of all, thank you for your help.
The only thing that i am worried is 100k?!?
It is my sisters car. She got her self Sl55 so she wants to get rid of this one. It is properly maintained and never crashed

Ok you worried about 100,000 miles!!! how many Mercedes Benz are on the road with over 100,000 miles ...many!.. mine has 120,000 with no problem like brand new !! Those miles aren't nothing for Benz German engineer engine there are one of the best built engine (cars) on the road today. I would worried if it a ford or Chrysler or gm built engine but not Mercedes or BMW engine there or closed to bullet proof. If you change the oil when require . If you still worried you can always go to your nearest Mercedes Benz dealer and buy a new one with no worries but you have to make monthly car payments of $ 700 or more monthly payment on a new car that eventually will get 100,000 miles and you car value DECREASE every year.Or you can buy a used clean Mercedes Benz vehicle like the one you thinking of buying ( 2001 CLK 430 Convertible with 100k for $7500) that a fracture of the price when that car was brand new in 2001 it was worth over50 or $60,000 so make sure that has been talking care of with service records .Remember this is a Benz and most owner take care of this very expensive German masterpieces vehicle and most of them are leases and leases have to service the vehicle its part of the contact that why there lease payment is alot cheaper than if you were just going to own it in five years financing .But payment will be alot more that average cause there are so expensive and you have to put a big down payment.Get a car fax ok and check vehicle if it sound great and drive smooth with no leaks you have a winner!! go for it!!!

I realy apreciate all of your help.
I know that German engine is synonim for reliability. What I am woried is everything else
As couple of people have problem with the roof not working. Also my friend bought 2005 e500 and his shocks broke down or something.
I am just woried about things like that, because there is no option for extended warranty.

so then buy a new car with factory warranty!! One more thing you can think about problems that can happen with cars.It just like life you can be healty today and sick tomarrow.
