That is the strangest excuse I've ever heard for posing as an AMG. Does your car not run without badges or something? And first AMG poser i've ever seen posing as a different model altogether. Wow.
CLK430 is an awesome car, why do people feel the need to dress it up with a fake AMG badge? Debadge all the way. It will look great and you'll be able to stop embarrassing yourself.

Exactly, Like putting a M3 badge on a 330ci, and S4 badge on a A4. It just looks silly! Be prepared for a bashing if you leave it on!

I'm not saying there are no AMG wheel or body parts. That would be ludicrous. Mercedes has historically used AMG body trim and wheels to sell non-AMG vehicles (CLK 430, E430 sport, C230 sport sedan, etc etc). That does not, however, make these cars AMG models.
AMG is about performance, NOT appearance. The defining characteristic of an AMG is that it has a hand-built engine with higher performance than is available in standard MB models. The VIN numbers are even different.
It bothers me when i see people re-badging their cars in a lame attempt to be something they aren't, especially when there is nothing wrong with that car to begin with. I could rant on this for a while, but in a nutshell
1) It suggests they are simply trying to show off, using a fake badge as a crutch for their ego. Which insults AMG and the artistry of what they do.
2) It insults their car as not being good enough as is, which in this case is not true. I used to have a CLK 320 and it was a blast, 430s even more so (i had an e430 as well for a while)
3) It cheapens the AMG brand. Making it from one of the respected marques in the automotive world into some fashion accessory for someone who needs more attention.
Like you said, its a free country, people can do what they want. But if they do stupid stuff, people are also free to call them on it.

AMG can either mean a car that has AMG parts, a car that was made by Mercedes AMG GmbH, or that the owner of the Merc wishes to relate their car with Mercedes AMG

A Saleen Mustang is just that, a Saleen Mustang. A Mazdaspeed Protege5 is a Mazdaspeed Protege5, etc, etc...
If it wasn't built as an AMG, IMO it's lame to slap an AMG badge on your car just because you have some AMG wheels or door trims installed. Lame. Just as lame as the Honda boys sticking Type R badges on their 1.4L Civics with fart cans and chopped springs.
That said, who cares what other people think. It's your ride and joy and if you like it that's all that matters. Just don't expect to get any high fives for it.

I don't have a AMG badge on my awesome paid in full CLK 430 .But again it not illegal to do (putting AMG badges)and they can put AMG badge on their cars if they want too ! You guys have a right to express your opinion but don't trash other that like those badge put on there Benz .I guess some here are mad that they paid so much money for there factory tune AMG Benz vehicle that they hate those that put AMG badges on there Benz and can be easily confused to be a real AMG turning product at a fraction of cost of a factory AMG tune Benz

How did this get off onto AMG. Original point was that His CLK 55 AMG is being posed as a C55 because someone stole the "LK" so he put C55 together until he finds the "LK" or something to that effect
