factory cd player is hosed
My CD changer in my trunk keeps sticking in terms of the cartridge in the unit. It will not eject and is stuck. I took it out this past weekend and took in apart and got it out then assembled and put it back and it seemed to be fine. Now it is stuck again.
Any suggestions and wonder what I could find used one for or just convert to some sort of ipod connection making this obsolete.

I replaced the head unit (Becker) with a Clarion CD/mp3/wma head unit, bypassing the stock CD clunker. Now I can store more than 6 measly CD worth of music.

The neverending anti-CD rant
CDs are archaic. Really. The first audio CD for the general public was released almost 30 years ago. We didn't even have PCs then. They skip, degrade, and you have to change them all the time. At best, CDs hold 80 minutes. A 32Gb thumb drive holds 150 HOURS of music. A 100 Gb drive holds 750 HOURS. Think about that: seven hundred and fifty hours before you hear the same song TWICE.
CDs have no place in a modern automobile. Anything with a USB port beats 30 year old technology. ANYTHING. A $99 "USB friendly" Alpine, with a FREE wiring harness adapter from Crutchfield will do the job. I'd recommend spending a little more than a hundred, but that's all it takes.
Thirty years ago, CDs were young and HOT. Like picking up a date at the bar accross the street from the local college. Now look at it. Thirty years later, sagging all over the place, and sufferring from some bizzarre "performance issue". That changer did you a favor by locking up. Leave that 'sorry, not tonight' nonsense and don't look back.
Smell that? That's freedom my friend. Freedom to buy somthing that will talk to iPhones, Androids, and Windows Mobile devices. Keeping that radio is like dating an UGLY cougar. It's easy, it's available, but damn, what's the point?

I found a guy on ebay that repairs these for $100 and will go that route. I am going to sell the car soon and get an e55 so no need to spend money on it.
