Need new set of tires - recommendations?!!
Have a CLK430 (2000) that needs a new complete set of tires. Only have 54K and I'm on my third set - going on a fourth. Current set is Sumitomo HTR+ and they only lasted about 8500 before the rears started to cup. Knew they were low end when I bought the set. Noise is now insanely loud - no real vibration. Car has always been properly aligned and its mechanically perfect. No suspension issues etc. On stock 17" rims inflated to 32F and 33R.
Any suggestions? Would like something A/S and have a little more wear life. Been looking at the Continental DWS , Kumho ASX and Yoko Avid Envigors. Because of the short lifespan - even with the original Michelin Pilot Sports I'd prefer not to spend a ton and have it wasted in about a year.
Got quotes on the Conti's for about 170 per tire with lifetime road force balancing/road hazzard. Less for the Kumho's and about the same price as the DWS's for the Yokos.

Use the search function... But with stock wheels and stock suspension you should easily be able to pull 20k miles out of a set of tires... Im lowered and have rear camber arms and can pull about 20k for fronts and now with the arms my rears are lasting i would say till almost 25k. But I'm also driving pretty mellow.

I have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my car and have got 5 years and 40K miles out of them. Will get a new set in the next few months. Am very happy with them won't put anything else on the car.

Pricy but seems to fit this car well, 15k+ miles on em so far and its about half tread. You'll see alot of rec towards this tire when searching on forum.

99CLK320,
I have Toyo Proxes 4 and like them alot. They are ultra high performance All Season like Michelin Pilot Sport A/S with a very similiar tread design but not nearly as expensive. Michelin is a great tire but I think you pay a premium for the nam.

Falken FK452
Hankook Ventus V12 EVO
Dunlop Direzza DZ101
Nitto Invo
Toyo T1R
Michelin PS2's if you wipe your *** with $100 bills
Those are my top picks for a moderate budget.

I just did a lot research (Tirerack.com surveys, Consumer Reports rating, other Web reviews etc.) and found that Michelins rated #1 across the board, but can be expensive.

I just decided on a set of Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires and could not be more satisfied.
By shopping locally, via newspaper ads and telephone, I was able to get a set of Michelin Primacy MXV4s for $500 (balanced, mounted, old tire disposal and front end alignment). Also includes lifetime balancing, rotation, flat repair etc..
It's a very competitive market.....everyone price matches and tries to beat the other place.
The Primacy MXV4's UTQG tire wear rating is 620 (other A/S typically rated 400 - 440). The reviews from long term users (45K+ miles) seemed to verify the longevity (all said they still had lots of thread remaining).
