help my car nearly stalled??????????
I was driving tonight to get some food and on my way back, I stopped at a traffic light and my car rev's dropped to below 500rpm, and the instrument light were dimming down and then the car began to shake a little, I put the car in N and immediately pressed the accelerator pedal a little to keep it going which it did. This happened once before, but didn't think it would happen again. The car is due for 30000 miles service. Any ideas.
Could it be the battery or alternator?

i thin it is the problem on the battery
coz i got a similar problem as urs be4 on my slk
finally , i need to replace the battery , and my slk is running good now

that has happened to me over 5 times. Nobody can find anything wrong with it, and in fact they kept my car for 3 days trying to replicate it, but it happens so inconsistently they cant find out.. And what did the service manager tell me, there is over 60 things it can be, and we cant just start replacing things... so basically he said bend over and rammed it straight into my a*s with no vaseline.... clk's are pieces of garbage.. probably made from leftover chrysler parts...

This problem happens to me at least once a week when the car is cold right after I started and I stop at the first traffic light. I give it a little gas and that's it, doesn't bother again for like another week. I haven't take it to the dealer yet for that, but I will soon.
Supra, the battery has nothing to do with it, once the car is running, you can take it out if you wan't. Remember, the alternator keeps the battery charged, not the other way around.

oh , it is becoz i got a similar problem be4
one Saturday at 5:00am , when i left the parking with the slk , it was suddenly shaking and the instrument light were dimming down too , I was pretty scared about it . then I really made a WRONG decision , i tured the car off and tried to re-start it . However , the car didn't get started even I tried many times... so *****
Finally , my car was towed to the dealership , and I need to walk back to my home , it was very cold at that morning ( minus 10 C ) .... damn it ...... ><
on next week , my dealer told me that the battery was freezed , and need to br replaced
my Terrible story ... wtX
