front bumper replacement
Guys,
I think I need to replace me entire front bumper. At the bottom of it you can see that I have broken pieces from the attached pictures and don't think I can simply glue them back together?
How much would a front bumper run and how hard would it be to find one already painted in black where I would not have to take it to a paint shop?

yeah once u get the center insert, u wont be able to notice the broken part. the center insert or diffuser is that piece that goes from foglight to foglight. i believe i saw dohcfiend selling one for really cheap. A body shop can reinforce the back and glue it back for ya with np tho.

You can usually find a diffuser for sale on ebay or the mb classifieds. If not, they are about $110 from dealer. Pay to have it painted or spray yourself. After it is installed, use a few platic zip ties to avoid losing it again.

Just got an estimate for $1400. When I looked at it I think I could get a dremel and cut off all those broken tops.
I am trying to find pictures of ones with a mesh grill and how it was installed but cant find anything. I would like it to look very stock and not too ghetto.

I broke those on my '99 430. I did a cheap fix that worked for 3 years. I slid a short piece of tubing behind the broken tab. I then used 2 small hose clamps above and below the broken tab. A small spray paint hid the clamps. When the diffuser was added, no one could tell. Cost abot $5 total. It beats $1400!

I don't think I could do that unless you showed me pictures of it.
I think I am going to try ebay and look online for a black OEM front bumper and hopefully can get at a reasonable price and swap it out.

I don't have pictures...Just feel behind the broken spots. You will find there is a hollowed verticle space about 1/2 inch wide. If you lay a piece of tubing into the space and then wrap a small hose clamp above and below the break, it will join the upper and lower together. I don't have the car any longer but it took about 30 minutes to do. You're going to look for another bumper and swap it out. If you are going to do that, believe me tat this quick fix is 100 times less complicated. If you are going to replace the bumper (which I have done twice on different cars), it will take you a lot longer and lots more $$ than trying this fix ....but do what you want to. You will still have to buy the diffuser.

Thanks will take a look over the weekend. Any suggestions as to the diffuser as to where to purchase and how does it get secured to the bumper?
