99CLK320,
"so I can run remove my MAF" Whoa! REALLY? Not that I don't I believe you. Interesting. You don't have O2 sensors do you? Did they give an explanation? Can't wait to hear the outcome Jimmy.

Nice let us know how this goes. Looking to do my Powerchip upgrade at Evosport. After my lagging buy on headers, Hiya Mel
Im sure you looked into Powerchip vs SpeedtunningUSA. Half the price a few HP difference, what sold you?

I think Japan is very strict on emissions, just not sure to what level in comparison with US Standards. Powerchip/PowerFlash stated that removing the MAF Mapping is allot of work and very difficult and not 100%. They also said they are not able to do it on every model yet. Because of this they said it will cost extra to have them remove the MAF, depending on how much extra I may and may not have my MAF removed. When I was looking at all the ECU tuners and doing my comparison my primary focus was on who offered the most torque. Also Powerchip/PowerFlash opened shop here in Japan so I can just drop off my car and have them tune it vice sending in my ECU which is hard because my car is my daily. Lastly Powerchip will dyno and tune my car until they get the most power out of it.

Jimmy, if I remember correctly, you sent your ECU to the US and your car ran f'ed up because they mapped it to a NoAm car?
Powerchip will dyno and tune my car until they get the most power out of it. that freakin awesome. If you ever move back to the US and ship your car ya better hope it ain't Cal.

My gf is trying to get me to move to Cali but I've been resisting because of all the high taxes there and due to all the vehicle restrictions there are in Cali. I like my money, and I like my cars so that'll be hard to change. Powerchip did not really F'up my ECU it just did not produce any real gains as they promised which there were surprised after I showed them the before and after dyno results.

PowerChip/PowerFlash picked up my car today to take to Tokyo for the ECU tune. This is Stage I of II. This is in two parts because we are looking for a Dynopac that does not charge 1K to use per day. If they finish early enough I will get a basic dyno from a friends shop and compare it to my last ones.
Stage I - ECU Tune
Stage II - Fine Tune with Dyno
I decided not to go with the MAFless but will have them try and remove the adaptive throttle logic. They said doing the MAFless takes a long time and allot of work. Sounds like the need the car for a few days to do so and they want to charge extra for it.

I have tried the MAF-less usually called AlphaN on BMWs setup before on my car when it was N/A, it simple never gets dialed in right, and the main reason that our MAF as IAT sensor which is directly related to the LOAD calculation tables which affect spark advance and fueling ... so one day the car is running great the other day it stutters on its face... good thing you backed out of it. hope tune works out fine BTW the pre-2000 models (ME2.0) rarely can get flashed without opening up the ECU while the post-2000 with ME2.8 are flashed thru OBDII...
