New on here

Was wondering if you guys could tell me what color this is. The owner doesn't know but he says it has purple pearl in it.

Also do you guys have any idea what kind of bumper this is and where I could get one?

99CLK320,
Call a MB dealer with the VIN and they should be able to tell you.
I think the bumper is a stock 02 bumper but but the owner added a carbon fiber lip spoiler. I say that because I know those are stock 320 fog lights.

Would a stock 02 bumper fit on a 99? It should right?

99CLK320,
yes, it should. is the O2 bumper a full one piece bumper or a two piece like the earlier models because the bumper you posted a picture of, without the lower lip, is two piece.

That paint looks like black opal. It was a special order color (meaning dealers charged $650 extra when new), but fairly common.

Black Opal looks blue in some lights, black in others. That's one of the features of that "special color".

I gotcha. So are these cars pretty reliable? I'm going to take a look at the one I posted the pic of, it has 158,000 miles. I'm a BMW guy and I know they usually can go over 200k not sure about Mercedes though.

Not sure about MB? Come on man. A well maintained Benz will do 200 easy. Ask the guys here where to buy a rebuilt 430 or 55. They don't know. You know why? They don't break.

Valve cover leak? Maybe.
Oil cooler o-rings on a 55. Sure, given enough time.
Just plain worn out? Not on any of the forums I've been on.

People burn up their electronics, wear out their suspension, ignore their flex disks until they explode, and even wreck the car - and the motor still runs.

These guys bolt superchargers on NA engines and 'occasionally' one grenades, but not under 'normal' circumstances. Now if you said "550" and "cam gear", I think we'd be a lot more quiet, but not the M113.

Who here has blown an engine? Who? Where is the guy from Jersey with the DIY turbo kit? Doesn't his still run?

That is the main reason why I am seriously considering to purchase a CLK55 for my everyday driving. I am actually less concerning about the mileage if the car has been maintained consistently.

99CLK320,
determining consistant maintenance may be difficult unless the previous owner took his car to the dealer in which case, providing the VIN# to the dealer should be able to provide you with a complete maintenance history. Why a 55 at 14 mpg for a daily driver?

Actually, most owners would keep their maintenance records. And, I am not concerning about 14mpg for driving daily.

dont have to take to dealer in all cases .. i DIY service my w210, keep receipts of all parts and labor invoices and even if you are buying a car and give the dealer the VIN good chance they wont give you the service history because it will have prevois owner info and they are not allowed to divulge that info . even if i buy somehting off ebay i print out the payment info and put them in the file with the rest of the history log the car came with .

BTW !! OP
if you look under your hood or doorjamb .. sorry i cant recall which .. it will have a code with numbers and you can come back n cross check them and will give you the color number
Color Color Description Color Code Designo Silver Metallic Clearcoat029/0029 Black Clearcoat040/9040 Graphite Green Metallic Clearcoat041/0041 Black Opal Pearl Clearcoat189/9189 Obsidian Black Metallic Clearcoat197/9197 Iolith Blue Metallic Clearcoat357/5357 Capri Blue Metallic Clearcoat359/5359 Storm Red Metallic Clearcoat541/3541 Mars Red Clearcoat590/3590 Calcite White Clearcoat650/9650 Pewter Silver Metallic Clearcoat723/9723 Granite Gray Metallic747/7747 Diamond Silver Metallic Clearcoat762/9762 Iridium Silver Metallic Clearcoat775/9755
