speedtronic fault

Hi everyone

I've just had a speedtronic visit workshop come up on my dash when i engaged the speed limiter.

Has anyone had this before and what it was?

Does it effect anything else?

I can live without a limiter.

Have you had any luck solving this issue yet? I've got the same problem but it defo knocks out the cruise control because its the same module that controls both features and one cannot operate without the other? I've been to main dealer & they say its tyre size?

Post your tire sizes. Listing both front and rear will be the most helpful.

Front & rear are 225/45 should be front 225/45 rear should be 245/40 so going to change rear tyres this week! That is the original spec & I guess the previous owner was a cheap skate & decided to get one size for all which trips out the speed sensors above 70 because the spin radius differs in size & a fault is sensed tripping out the ESP module that controls the speedtronic fail safe as it senses different rotation speeds.

I did a computer reset, it's on another link. Mine was because my tyres were warn. It confused the computer. When you do a reset it learns the tyre dif. There is a good link saying the procedure some where on this site. Yes you need to have the correct tyres but yours will work they need to have the same circumference Front and rears within 3%. I use 255/35/18 and 225/40/18.
Good luck

Unless you have staggered wheels the stock tires are the same size front and rear. If you have staggered wheels, the tires should differ as you say.
