2nd cat delete, any performance gains?

hey guys,

ive just changed my rear muffler with a remus back box on my 430, i like the sound, nice tone and not loud.
what i wanted to know if there is any performance gains in deleting the secondary cats?
im thinking of replacing it with 2x2.5" >3" Y pipe then 3" to resonator

would there be a loss of torque doing this?

have done search but no real answers.

99CLK320,
ghostrider fabricated an exhaust for his 430 without the 2ndary cats and Williams007 has a a 320 he purchased in Japan and I know he doesn't have primary cats. I would look up/search posts by both those guys.

Well not sure about gains since my car never came with primary cats but I hear there are some.

leave your cats alone u will loose back preasure. plus without any ecu flash and software i wouldnt see any gains just some regret on ur take off. but if you plan on putting that y pipe in i think it will compensate the lack in back preasure not to sure tho

Are you serious????

CLKs in Japan come straight from the MB Factory without any Primary CATs.

my other idea would be to replace the secondaries with an x-pipe which will go into the factory y pipe,
im guessing this will cause more of a restriction as the exhaust would be crossing over too many times.

How about for your secondary cats go with a free flow cat instead

Seems both Australia and Japan CLKs does not come with Primary CATs. Wondering what about other countries
