P0446 EVAP CLK320 1998
Hello.
I have just bought a pre-owned CLK320 and the check engine light is on. I got it checked and found a P0446 Evap problem. They recommended that I should replace the vent valve (because it is clogged) and evap canister but the thing is I am just a student so is it possible that I can still drive with it? or will it do further damage to the engine? will the charcoal make serious harms?
I also have a question regarding "Lamp Deflective"...I replaced all light bulbs and reset the system but it is still on. The thing is, the previous owner put HID aftermarket headlights and I noticed they are 2 different brands. Does the CLK320 needs a balance for the HID? or does it have one integrated? do I have to put regular bulbs to get it to work? or is there a way to keep the HID and get rid of the lamp deflective message?
Thanks in advance and my main concern is about the evap problem.

I don't know and I don't know. Most won't respond if they don't know because it doesn't add meaningful content. That and (1) weekends aren't the busiest periods because many are out doing things and (2) 3 hours and 10 minutes really isn't that long to wait for a response.
I could "guess", but these can be expensive cars when the wrong guess is made. I don't think it's an expensive guess, but I'd rather tell you how the system works and let you guess. As you fill the car with gas, vapors go from the gas tank, through a vent line, to the expansion reservoir. The fumes then go across another line from the expansion reservoir to the charcoal canister. The fumes then go from the charcoal canister to the purge control valve, which at times, receives a vacuum from the engine. That vacuum clears the fumes.

I was just joking about the responses. Thank you for the brief explanation, I thought the charcoal will eventually go through the gas tank. I guess it'll be fine then.

Every so often I get the lamp defective warning. Nothing wrong with the lamps. My right rear light assembly connector works loose just enough to trigger the warning and I just push it back into place. You may want to check your connector assemblies. Hope this helps.
