What's up mb world haven't done a thread in awhile cuz I really haven't done any new mods on the car.I have a problem,I recently ran into a friend that has a 2001 E55 is willing to trade me for my clk.my question is,is it worth trading?it has 20k more miles then what I have.im the second owner to my vehicle and have only had to put a cps and brake light switch.the other car has gotten 2 motor mounts put in,needs an abs sensor,a tranns sensor and a nice buff.what do you guys suggest???

i've owned both the clk and e (mind you not 55s). my $0.02, e class has almost been perfect since purchase in 02 (avg maintenance + oil changes + tires + washes/details + etc = ~$2,500/yr)
for the clk, (avg yearly ~$3,500). I know some others that have had ridiculous maintenance. I say, the stick with the clk55 for a sportier ride. If you're looking to get a bigger car, the e is one of the longest ones out there. longer than a lexus gs, or bmw5. Handles are about the same i.m.o.

Thanks for the info,yeah the space is always a plus.im looking for a bigger and sportier ride and I hear the e55 is where its at.

That'd definitely be the way to go. I am just curious why your friend wants to go down to the clk 320 if he's already got the e55. He would be losing a ton of space and speed imo. Gl either way jbenz

I think he doesn't know what he has.he does have 20,000 more miles then me.he says my car is in better condition and I have more done to my car then he does.his car is stock and mine is slightly modded.he's more in shock about me considering it then I am wit him thinking about it.he thinks im jerking him and wants a mechanic to look at my car lol.I know what he's got under that hood and what I can do with that motor.this is his first benz so he really doesn't know anything about them.

Go with the AMG, you will feel like the 'king of the road' in short time. I have just gotten comfortable with the power, shift points and incredible braking of my clk55, it will be hard if I ever have to go back to a lesser car. 55mph to 110mph in a few buttery smooth seconds. As long as the maintanence has been kept up a E55 ort CLK55 is incredible value for what they sell for today.

still waitng for us to meet up and have his mechanic take a look at my car to make sure hes good to go.sometimes i look at my car and dont wanna get rid of it cuz ive had it for so long and have so many plans for the car next summer now that im done paying for it.(brabus lip kit,new wheels and new suspension)

which car would you rather look at? I would much rather look at my coupe than an E whether its a 55 or not and it has 20K more. Car payments?

I do like looking at my car more,but the e has more space and power.no car payments at all.both cars are paid off.the 20,000 more miles do worry me at times.also not knowing how many owners have had it before him.im the second owner and have taking care of mine.im in need of something that can be modded for power and looks and the 320 doesn't have much options.

Instead of him taking your car to get checked out . You take his and pay the $100 or so dollars and get a PPI done . 20k miles more aint nothing on that motor or trans compared to the rest of the lot . But if he allready got motor mounts changed then hes atleast somwhat maintaining . Look in the w210 AMG section for what to look for as far as is hes had his coils ,plugs, maf, ectt. changed because those can make or break you compared to owning a 320 or 430 . Sad to say I prob would trade my e55 for a CLK55 but never for a 430 or 320 even if it had 50k miles less then mine . But honestly I wouldnt sell it for what i bought it for 2 yrs ago If i was offered it today . In that time only thing Ive changed was cps sensor and springs and oil n filter . But I do have service records for last 5 yrs of previous owner . Anyhow goodluck on your choice but make sure get it checked out he cant be that clueless as to what he has in his possesion

as an owner of both the clk and e class...definitely get his checked out.
jbenz, you basically are saying it out loud and clear to yourself that your car is the more "trustworthy" one. You have the records, the past owner history, the preferred looks (coupe)...etc.
E needs to be checked out. I know a ton of friends that have E's and they have 2x's to 3x's more maintenance than I do. My E somehow is just more reliable than theirs. Granted mine is an '02 and has only around 80k miles, but still...shows how MBZ can vary from each individual car to the next (regardless if they are the same model or not)

Yeah im def getting his checked out also.I know im gonna regret getting rid of it.but like I said it has more space and power so to me its a plus plus.thanks for the help guys,ill keep ya posted
