2000 CLK430 Cabriolet
Confused on Spark Plug & Wires Resistance Issues.

Regarding my year 2000 430CLK Cabriolet.

Confused on Spark Plug & Wires Resistance Issues. I have read plenty of postings on the resistance issues of wire/plugs, relevant to the model year of the vehicle, and am confused-need some clarification.

Seems it is time for me to change my plugs again. Changed them last about 50K miles ago. At that time I used Bosch FR8DPP33 (the original F8DPP332 plug was no longer available), and did NOT change the plug wires. Today, I still have the original plug wires that came with the new car 114,000 miles ago.

Here is what I would like to know.
Was the original configuration on my car non-resistor plugs, and resistor wires?
Is the FR8DPP33 a resistor plug?
If both answers are yes, then it seems that I must have doubled the resistance when I changed the plugs, likely affecting the spark. Oh well.

Keeping this resistance issued in mind, for this new plug & wire job, what plugs and wires would one recommend, short of the pricey Denso wire sets? Would prefer wires in the $200 range. Specific part #s of plugs and wires would be helpful.

Again, I would appreciate your advice.

No idea on the resistor part you're talking about -- doubt it's that complicated as many people pair varying plugs and wires and don't run into issues.

For simplicity sake, I'd just stick with OEM - the Bosch plugs you already purchased and wires. I would just order the complete Bosch wire set (part # 09850).

No help. You've missed the issue. The OEM plug is NOT available--Bosch no longer makes the non-resistor plug. Thus...?

FR8DPP33+ is the OEM replacement...period. F8DPP332 is superseded by this plug.

Yes, I know, I know. The "r" in FR8DPP33+ designates is a resistor plug. Resistor plug and resistor wires equal increased resistance, equal diminished spark. Vehicle was designed with non-resistor plug and resistor wires. OEM wires for this vehicle remain resistor wires. Am looking for a solution--a solution, ie. does anyone have experience, a source, etc., with alternate non-resistor plugs.

I'm obviously digging up an old thread here! I have a new to me 2002 CLK 430, like new condition with 57,000 miles. The original owner doesn't remember having any type of ignition "tune-up", and it has Bosch # F8 DPR Plugs, that say "R1 282" on the ceramic portion. The wires are Mercedes part # 112 150 04 18. Both appear to be original. So... what's the consensus of this? I don't want to double the resistance either....

I think that due to age, I need to replace at least the plugs.

Thanks!

Got it, thanks! I don't know how I didn't stumble across your tutorial in my searches... I definitely searched.

Thanks again,
