Black birdseye maple upgrade?

My 98 has the regular brown walnut. Anyone know the best place to get the black birdseye found in the 430s and newer models? I don't want to add any wood pieces like the ones you get at Performance Products, just replace the factory ones. From my understanding this can be a rather expensive proposition...any ideas?

Black

If I had a choice, I would have your brown walnut in my CLK55.

IMHO:
Brown walnut looks MUCH richer than the black stained birdseye maple, which under most light conditions could be black plastic,- the subtle grain configuration does not show because of the high-gloss, highly reflective, glass-like finish.

You have a trime that looks like wood, NOT plastic.

Why dont you two swop your interior trims, its not too hard to remove it if you know how - dealer [I imagine] would take an hour or two to do the job on each vehicle ?

If not, you can get it from MB, but thats going to be rather expensive - alternatively, MB in Germany have a "breakers" where they are very good at taking stuff apart carefully and charging sensible prices - www.mbatc.de

Lee:

If changing the wood trim would be as easy as changing a CD, I would do it. Everything is functioning as it should; I won't change the black trim, - keeping this CLK 55 AMG original.

However, that walnut of yours is beautiful!
