Paint the black part all around the bottom

I have a '99 CLK 320 and it has the ugly black molding all the way around the car. Seeing as the body kits are a couple thousand bucks, is it possible to just have them painted to match the color of the body (which in my case is silver)? At least that way they won't stand out so much and it will just give it a nice clean look.

Has anyone tried this before? If so, can you put up some pictures?

Yes it's possible, it might take a good amount of prep work if you want the sides to be smooth, but it would basically look similar to a newer model 320 with color matched lower panels.

CLK 230 Komp Cabrio
Do you know...

Do you know if the original body parts from the 2000-2002 fit on the older ones? Would it be dificult to mount on? Anyone...
Thanks

the body/chassis is the same, and those side skirts and bumper covers mount at the same place... i think it would be easier to find parts from a MY'00+ from a salvage yard, probably cheaper too if the color is right.

My bud painted his '99 CLk320 cab's lower sections, and it looks great... but I think it came out to be about $1,000 or so

Easier way...

To paint the lower bumper parts might be the cheapest way but the 2000+ mountings had a better and clean look. I think the side parts are the ones that make more diference. Now the question is how hard is it to change/mount them and how hard is it to find them.

Is it only for the 320 bodykit?
Is the add on kit only includes the side and the rear?

Thanks,

Solihin

I did not order the front lip, so I only have the rear and side skirts. As far as I know, it only works on the CLK320.
