Window Scratches

Is there any way to prevent vertical window scratches on the clk?

I was thinking about putting the felt lining on the outside as well?

Scratches

It is helpful to clean the windows frequently, particularly the rubber strips where grit can build up and scratch the glass.

i've been thinking about getting my windows tinted also, but the weather in so cal has been so gloom that I haven't felt the urge to just yet...

in any case, i hear a lot about the tint film scratching due to the seal alongside the window, but I can't imagine why? I've read in the past that some members feel that 'rubber strip' is very rough, but it feels pretty smooth to me.

Is there any difference between model years in regards to this rubber strip/seal?

heres the thing

you can get the felt strip on the inside to protect the tint and it wont scratch. However....the window will then be pressed up against the outer molding much harder and scratch on the outside.

That is why I am wondering if you could put a felt strip on the outside as well to stop scratches on the tint and on the outer side of the window

It depends on what kind of tint you got as well, my old ones had a lot of scratches, I have none on my new one.

I don't know what brand it is, but it's thicker/stronger than the one I had before.

When I had mine done, they first sanded down the abrasive portion of the molding. This allowed the felt to adhere better, and makes up for the additional space the felt would require. The best way to avoid scratches is not to raise/lower the windows while they are dirty.

i think its crazy

i think its crazy you cant open a window on a benz without fear of scratching? What is the benefit they see in making it so tight? This is definitely a plus for a BMW

i'm a little confused... so, is it scratching at the B-Pillar area? or at the top of the window?

you guys jinxed me...I never had a scratch until sunday. Now theres a vertical line up the driver's side window. There was a small pebble stuck in the window seal. Its hard to see the scratch though, unless you know its there.
