I put that same badge on my 320 because the dealer had used something like marinetex to put his solid metal dealership logo on my trunk! The paint came off with it and I looked everywhere to find cover up badge, I also really like this AMG badge and it was a lot cheaper then painting trunk lid. I'm not a poser but just a salute to great cars.

It's definitely a nice looking piece.

As far as the whole "posing" issue, imo it's not as bad as when people put the trunk or side emblems on...those draw far more attention than a hood badge. That said, I wouldn't put it on my car (standing star for life) but I'm on the side of "if you like it, it's your car/money."

Wink Confused

After looking at the various posts on here about whether to badge or not to badge. Can anyone help me? I have on the boot of my car CLK 32 and the AMG badge, now I am not sure if it is a true AMG or not? I actually presumed that it was a 320 but that the 0 had fallen off. I have the AMG wheels and if I open the bonnet I have a couple stickers with reference numbers and AMG re spark plug specs. I also have AMG on the engine rocker covers. So is it or isn't it. I really don't know? any ideas anyone? I actually hope it isn't as I know it will put my insurance up.

I would not put an AMG badge on a NON-AMG vehicle. . It's not an AMG! My CLK430 was not an AMG, and when I would see posers smirking and thinking they are super cool with their AMG badge, I would just laugh at them. If you have you have a nice 430, it will speak for itself. A CLK430 is a great vehicle, and it will hold its own without acting like something it's not. Just my thoughts........

the only thing that will indicate of your has an AMG built motor is the VIN number. there is no engine plaque that came on the CLKs with the AMG motor because the "builder Plaque came into play after 2003 or 2004 so any AMG built engine before that does not have the plaque. as for the 32, there is a 32AMG but only on the C class, the CLK never had a 32 AMG it only came with 200,230 Komp,320,430 and 55AMG. in a very few conutries they had 240 but i'm not sure if it was CDI or not. your insurance company runs your VIN not your emblems. also there is no listing other than the 320/430 and 55 in the united states. hope that helps.

i ran these badges on my old CLK
they look good, yet they only last 1 year, because the SUN eats the plastic coating and it looks like ***.

the rear badge, i removed the star, and had to drill 2 holes to mount.

good luck with your ride!

Hm I've come to my decision and have decided to keep the emblem in my room to look at and leave my car alone. Haha it's not like I will see it on my hood much anyways so it's now a desk ornament

BRABUS DOESNT MAKE ENGINES!! they tune existing engines. and yet 99% cars they do for sale or adds does not have the engine and has the emblem. Agian the AMG badge has nothing to do with the engine only the numbering has to do with the engine.

based on this argument someone thats running AMG wheels with amg centercap is a poser because they dont have an engine?! that makes no sense. the only badge that is the representation of the engine is the Numbers that come after the clk or e or slk etc, and the badges on the sides such as v8 kop, v12 biturbo, 6.3 etc...

My opinion not everyone has to agree but im just pointing out a fact that the only representation of the engine is the numbering.

I NEVER stated BRABUS make engine. I simply stated a lot people slap BRABUS badges on the back of their cars without getting their engine tuned. I been to BRABUS USA in Irvine, CA they told me they will not slap the badge on for you if you do not have engine tune by them. I have BRABUS wheels on my car I do not even dare to put a badge on. you can call them yourself to find out

Just kidding lol I don't agree with doing that. But I found a really nice flat hood emblem, but its an Amg one. Personally i think its supperrrrr nice but i wish it didnt say amg on it. I currently have the silver flat hood emblem but since it was so faded from the sun, I wanna replace it and stumbled across this one. My question is will I look like a poser to u guys, im in the process of grabbin an Amg airbox and when my brakes are done, I'm repLacing them with the c32 Amg brakes n calipers. So what do u guys think??are my little Amg add ons a good enough reason to rock this emblem or no?
Ignoring the "///AMG" part, I think the color theme of the badge would go well with your car, especially your wheels. I'm not saying it's right or wrong. I'm just saying this particular badge design would look good on your car. I think it looks better than a badge that only says "///AMG" on it. I have center wheel caps in the above design on my ST160s and everyone loves them-at least that's what they post or say to my face.

and i have the brabus kit as you an see in the other thread i posted it for sale, when you buy the complete kit the kit comes with the emblems! brabus wheels arent considered a part of the kit. the brabus trunk and side molding emblems are to represent the kit. again the numbering is and the fender emblems are the only representation of the engine. the trunk emblem doesnt mean anything related to the engine as you can see in BRABUS, Carlsson, Lorinser, Wald, junstion produce, Garson D.A.D and many other tunners.

bottom line is that as long as you are not running fake numbering such as 55, 32, 43, 63, 65 etc you are not indicating that you have an amg tuned motor. thats the fact of the motor representation, but again everyone has their own opinion.

lol, at the end of the day it just a personal prefrence and a matter of opinion, i just wanted to clearify that nothing on the car is the indication of the size and type of motor thats under the engine except the numbering and the fender emblems.
