Very cool. What was in it before, the 4.3?

Hey Kevwood. Awesome 209 by the way. It had a 430. So it was pretty straight forward.
I resealed the rear main and valve covers. Now i need to see what route im gonna take to boost it up. Ive really been leaning towards a custom vortech v3. Im a little worried on the boost curve they make, but im really not tryin to brake any speed records. So i think ill be ok with boost coming on at 3500rpm to redline. Also the 5.4 makes good low end torque anyways. I also have the option of a factory blower. A another benz tech i work with has the crank pulley and ilder Setup. The only thing with the factory set up is that dyno comp wants 2000-2500$ to tune it. Vs i would use a fmu and split second air mass unit to tune the vortech. Any thoughts on either setup?

Sounds like you've got an awesome plan and I absolutely agree with the 3500 kick, even my 5.0 made so much bottom end torque that the Kleemann blower I have on it now just makes it a tire shredding beast off the line - even the Quaife LSD and feathering the pedal don't make the launching easy, but it sure is fun
Seems a little steep to me regarding the tune, I used to manage a tune/custom build shop in Canada years ago and our pricing was quite a bit lower than that for custom boost setups. You might want to call around and get some additional quotes, in the end, boost is boost, a good tuner can probably take the basic Kleemann tune for the 5.4 (n/a converted to s/c) and build ontop of it.
I'll definitely be following your thread, I always have respected the hard core custom builds Thanks for you comments by the way, lots more to come on mine over the next few months...

Kevwood,
Ive driven some kleemann cars are they pull just as hard as a kompressor mOtor.
I think ill try the fmu with a split second unit for the challenge. It'll be a slow process for the vortech. Im going to use my 430 to Mock up the vortech mount and pulley set up.

Most people would have taken the easy way out and used something more conventional like an engine hoist to get the engine out but I applaud your use of the Topsy Turvy bomb from Armed and Dangerous

I finished it up tonight. The extra 75 or so torque is very noticeable. I shouldve done the swap way earlier. Did you flash your ME to run the 5.4?

In the UK the N/A 55 AMG conversion are only just being done. We are yet to do the Super-charged one!
I did mine 4yrs ago, No-one knew much about it then so I had the MB dealership order me a custom ECU which is unheard of!

I only swapped the engine, no really need for the trans, Ill add some more clutch packs if it starts to slip with the blower. Check out car-part.com
they have really good prices on amg motors.

Well price wise its pretty cheap. Got a hook up for the engine and no labor Its going to be cheaper then a new kleemann kit, even at cost that i can get it for.
