Brake pads to minimize brake dust?

I get a wicked amount of brake dust up front, but surprisingly, not much in the rear. Are there any recommended brake pad brands that greatly reduce brake dust?

The front wheels are always going to be dirtier than the rear ones because of the force on the front. Are those oem MB pads?

I'm sure they probably are (just bought the car a year ago), but are there any ceramic aftermarket pads to help reduce the brake dust for our cars?

This has been a trade off problem since the advent of disc brakes on high performance cars. Sure you can put metallic/ceramic pads on but then more often than not you get a lot of squealing and sometimes squealing and grinding. One time on my old SEC it was so bad my gf at the time wanted me to stop the car until I explained it to her. The next day I took it back to my indy who had just put them on and he exchanged them for softer pads and all was well. The problem with softer pads as you've noticed is lots of dust and you get a lot less mileage from them and then people complain about only getting 10,000 miles out of their brakes.

When I was working at a BMW dealer years ago, the factory would allow a customer to exchange the pads one time for free as long as they signed a disclosure explaining all this.

I had the same problem, I couldn't get home from the car wash before they were great as far as peddle feel but the dirt on my new rims was driving me crazy. I got Akebono front and rear pads from tire rack. They still give me great pedal, almost no dust and no SQUELL.

Akebonos are considered the best alternative if you're looking for less brake dust. Some owners say that the bite is reduced a bit, which to me isn't worth the lessened hassle of cleaning my wheels.

It's also not that surprising that brake dust accumulates more quickly up front as the front brakes do most of the braking due to weight bias.

akebonos will fix your problem. I used to have black wheels with a brick colored lip thanks to the OEM brake pads, but once i switched to slotted drilled rotors + akebono, my rims are now black with a chrome lip. At most, your wheels will get a little hazey, but no more major brake dust. Good luck!

Do you feel any noticeable reduction in braking power with these pads?

The way i would describe the reduction would be kinda like a manual car to an automatic car in terms of control of the shifting, if you get what i mean. I feel like the OEM Pads bit a little too hard, where i sometimes would look like a bad driver when i had to do a sudden brake, as for the Akebonos, they feel like i can control the brakes more, like if i really needed to brake immediately, i can slam on the brakes and it will stop, but for regular braking, i personally like it more since it feels like im more in control, and not as jerky. Hope that helps

Akebono Euro Ceramic Pads Part #AKEUR853
$66.67 Ebay free ship
$61.49 Autopartswarehouse free ship

Come with 2 wear indicators and 2 applications of anti-squeak. If you buy them on ebay, the cheap vendors take these out and sell them separately. Better to buy Akebono pads from Autopartswarehouse and you get the whole kit.

I am hard on my brakes because I like to accelerate hard, go fast, and stop fast. It's a habit that is hard to break. They stop very well. They are very clean and keep my rims clean.

Here is an instructional I made a while ago.
