Turn signals, wipers, hazards don't work; fuse 41 shorts. Bad SAM or other ideas?
I just got a CLK and the turn signals, wipers, hazard lights, central locking mechanism (key locks fine) and a couple other electronic devices don't work. I checked the fuses and 41 for the turn signals is shorting every time I place a new fuse in. I also notice the previous owner had been using a 15 amp fuse in one area for awhile when the fuse diagram calls for 30amp. I replaced the fuse there, but in my fuse 41 (turn signals) there is no way to put in a fuse because of the short (instantly shorts out).
Do you think the SAM module is bad? Or is there a specific area you'd recommend trying to clean with electrical cleaner? I am hoping right now I could swap the SAM out and hopefully many of my electrical problems will disappear.
Any help or other ideas to try are greatly appreciated, thanks! I've already done searches and found solutions to a few other of my problems, just don't know about this one. I really like this car so far, I come from driving a BMW 540I for 4 years (not selling) and am enjoying some of the percs of Mercedes.
If I can't figure anything out, I will probably just buy a used SAM and try plugging in a replacement (found one for under $100). Willing to try anything.
My car, will be refinishing headlights & painting bumper soon:

Yup. Me too.
After asking you, I ran across this thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...ding-them.html
It was the perfect find. Hopefully it helps the next guy/gal.
Thanks for the response!

NP, Glad it worked out! Didn't expect to see this thread again, but I always find it entertaining to see an old bump.
