Where did this body kit come from?
I always see people asking for real DTM kits, and this is the closest thing I have ever seen to one. Does anyone know if this is a custom kit or if it is available for sale?

Renntech like Ben said. That was from 98 or 99 when they fitted a v12 into the CLK. One and only car I believe. I also remember it caught on fire or something when some magazine was testing the car.

I dont know if you consider "fender flares" as "wide-body," but they are nice pics to look at

C&D Test
The last sound heard from the sleek RENNtech CLK60SC as it disappeared down the straightaway sounded something like "BrrrrUUUMMM . . . ka-BLAP!"

"This rebuff from lady luck happened just as the CLK's ill fortune seemed to be improving. The car was nothing but a tempestuous brat during the One Lap of America last May, finishing the event ignominiously on the back of a transporter headed south. Upon arriving in Michigan for our June shootout, it spent all but 4.7 miles of the preliminary road drive choking on a faulty mass-airflow meter, one of the few stock parts on the supercharged 510-hp, 6.0-liter V-8. The engine would entertain nothing more than quarter-throttle."

Renntech has had two wild clks that I know of. One being the clk60 GT in all of those pics (6.0L V8), and the CLK GTX which has a 7.4L V12. I don't know if they've ever made more than one of either.
The body styling on the GTX is a lot more subtle, but I can't stand the kit on the GT. There was a post a while back about a "celebrity RENNTech clk55" on ebay in some aweful orange color. That one had the GTX kit. Honestly, out of the RENNTech body treatments I've seen, I only like two: Jim Wald's w210 E60 T-model (Awesome flaring) and the CL203 widebody.

I believe it was Road + Track that tested the V12 RENNtech CLK about 4 or 5 years ago, but the article was never published as the writer died testing the car. There was apparently some suspension failure at extremely high speed on the track, and the car flipped end over end on fire before coming to a stop on the side of the track. Really sucked. I'm sure if you check Google or something you can find something about it.

rear bumper and fenders
the rear bumper and fenders could be a classy touch if done right. the front bumper and fender flares kills the kit.
