It's a side mounted SC. Gen 1 was plauged with problems. Gen 2 I heard was better but dont hear much bout those systems anymore since Kleemann dominates in all but the $$$. Then again you get what you pay for

Yoy would have bought the kit too if you paid what I did and its only an issue for those who cannot follow directions and or have no mechanical ability. I am going to use the side kit with a custom eurocharged tune even though I am sure hps is just fine

HPS gen 1 was after all considered faulty that's why everyone who had it either didn't install it or ended up selling it including a close friend of mine that bought it for his E55 w210. I'm sure you can dig up the instructions but even I suggest talk to some people that had it running and managed to get it some what working. It doesn't matter how mechanically capable you are a bad system is a bad system. I know shop here in southern CA that does high horsepower BMW and benzes and does the install for most of HPF cars and they couldn't get it working reliable with all their diagnostic equipment and tunning knowledge. With that said best of luck.

there was problems with the seals on the blower but im not sure which ones and where, but i know that they also had problems with the software, but the software part should be easy to bypass by getting a custom tune.

VIP is right on that on man--i mean its not worth the risk of messing up your block or anything because I've heard of some friends with AMG's to have gotten an HPS system and were deterred after some socal pro shops gave them critical feedback on it. I don't recall specific problems but its your call man, can't argue a SC would be sick nonetheless

Id say both also. Like Ash said, the software is a tuning fix. Fueling was another problem fixed with higher capacity pump. Biggest issue I see was lack of cooling for the intake charge. Non-intercooled boost is way harder and more involved then running a cooled charge. Get it wrong and bingo!!! You'll know exactly what kind of heat a piston deals with

Idk yall... I've had my HPS on for almost 2 years, and have had not 1 single issue... I haven't dyno'd the car, but coming from a W215 CL6 (non-s/c'd) & a W211 E55, I'm not disappointed.. not exactly as torquey' but not a let down at all... I did read a few people had issues, but knowing their s/c was a direct bolt-on, requiring no additional cooling or ecu work..great for a maintenance free daily driver.. I took the plunge and have not had a regret to this day... However, my car is now for sale...so someone else will get to enjoy her... If you PM me with your email: OP, I'm 99% sure I still have the install PDF's...
