AMG Brake Calipers???
Will w209 CLK55 AMG Brake calipers bolt to a w208 CLK55 if the w209 rotor is used? I am almost 100% sure it will and read somewhere it will or atleast hope so otherwise ive got a full set in the mail and nothing to put them on lol and there not exactly cheap?
I don't think the caliper mounting is dependent on the rotor, but it could be. See if you can find the oem part # for each online to see if they match. Many times part #s cross between years. I know the w209/350 motor mounts work on a w208/320. Geeezzz. I would have answered the question before I ordered the parts. Are the 209/55 calipers bigger or better than the 208/55s? What are you gaining?
Any w209 and w203 will bolt on to our cars. You can also use the same rotors from those cars. Plug and play no modding needed. I'm doing a setup from a 63 as we speak on mine. I highly recommend stop tech braided lines also.
Thats what I thought! Thank you I was 99% fronts fir but was unsure about the rears.

Your good to go on both. For the rears you will have no Problems because the inside diameter of the rotor hat is the same on the w209s and w203s as well so you won't run into any problems with your e-break.
Correct. I have 4 piston calipers from the newer model on my w208. The 6 piston calipers will bolt on as well if you have the clearence behind the wheels as well. It was cheaper for me to do the Calipers pads and rotors from the newer model than it was to just replace the rotors on my 01 CLK55... and I run a parts store! I got the calipers from Nugeon. I keep looking for the 6 piston, but can't find any.
I've read the original 208 AMG front brakes are very effective. I'm interested in the swap but don't want to lose more braking than I have to.
I used the calipers pads and rotors from the 03 CLK55. Yes, the parts were less than $400. It was cheaper for me simply because I run a parts store and get parts very cheap. I haven't noticed a decline in braking ability. When I autocross I can brake very late going into a corner.
Here's the pics. The first one is the stock brakes with the 2 piston sliding calipers. The next ones are the 4 piston fixed caliper set up from the newer CLK. The brake pad wear sensor is different between the two set ups as well. I was too lazy to take the wheels off and put the new sensors on, but the light stayes off so I'm not worried about it.
I agree that a street driven clk will not notice a difference in brakes from the 208 to the 209. I will also say that the 209 brakes will suffice 90% of its users. There is a reason why the w208 55 brakes and say the 05 w209 55 brakes cost more though. The floating hub design is superior to the solid hub of the 03 w209. The solid hub may be cheaper but you will be giving up performance. How much that is worth is up to the individual. Ive never driven a w209 but I have heard complaints of fade with the solid hubs of the 03. Course the only complaint Ive heard of the 05's that went back to the floating hub is the price!
