2002 CLK 55 AMG Coupe ;)
Question Now WHY did you buy a CLK ?

Bought my CLK55 because of

1. Comfort (inflatable seats/ roominess), handling, design/ looks and

2. Performance.

I am 6'2" and I never felt comfortable in my previous SL500. Liked the new vette, but lacked quality.

Just interested to hear why U chose a CLK and which model.

I bought a CLK because....

of the leg room the. I am 6'5" and 98% of the cars on the market do not have the leg room the the CLK has. Plus the nice beefy V8 helps to haul my big *** around.

I like the styling and am and big fan of MB...it's a great car and fun to drive. My fiancee likes it, too. I only have a lowly 320, though...can't hang the big boys here

CLK Cab because:

1) Stylish design

2) Resale value better on the cabs

3) Wanted 4 proper seats

4) Fitted my all round needs better than any other MB.

I was lusting after a CLK as soon as it came out, unfortunately I had just purchased a new MB so I sat it out for a while.

I just could not resist the classic lines!

Thumbs up

1) the styling really caught me attention - saw the car 1 1/2 years ago before buying one. Nothing else looks quite like it.

2) the engine & transmission are very smooth and refined

3) plenty of power, even with the 3.2 V6 (Coupe)

4) I like the overall size of the car

'01 CLK 55
I had driven Porsches since 1976 and found over the years that traffic and congestion in my neck of the woods has played a major role in my descision in the purchase of a CLK 55; Porsche performance with an automatic transmission. I also wanted a car that my wife could drive while on longer road trips. Having said this, I just got back from the car show last night and had a chance to have a good long look at a 996 Turbo. I've finally decided that I can live with the "new" design(and the water issue) and that this will be the replacement for the CLK. I guess I'm saddled with all future driving duties going forward, and screw traffic and congestion....I'll suffer.

Smile A Beautiful Design

I thought when they first came out three years ago and still believe today that the CLK has one of the most beautiful and distinctive shapes of any car on the road.

I also got it because I was able to rationalize that if a new V-6 Honda can cost around $26K out the door it was easy to step up to the quality of the Mercedes for another $10K and then another $6-8K for the convertible, and then it was just a few $$$ more for an amazingly exclusive car. I still see very few CLKs on the road, fewer convertibles.

Never a big MB fan, fell for the style of this car when I saw it. I've had it for four years now (new in 1998) and can't seem to get myself to sell it. Simply because I don't know what I would buy instead. A CLK with a bigger engine is of course an option....
