New 430 Owner
I just wanted to introduct myself and say I have been viewing all the posts for the past several days and this is a great forum! You guys have helped me out already and I didnt even pick up my new CLK 430 yet. I will be picking it up this Thursday. Trading in my BMW 323i and cant wait.. This was a tough decision (totally financial of course) I was set on an M5 which priced around the same (lease) as a CLK 55 AMG. But the 430 should do for now :-). I was a little concerned with the new body style coming out.. But think I like the old one better, as is the consensus around here ;-)
Looking foward to posting on here..

New CLK
Congratulations! Are you downstate New York? If so I know of some great roads in the NYC area, especially given the nice weather we have been having lately. Good luck on Thursday.

2002 CLK 55 AMG Coupe ;)
I will be picking it up this Thursday.
Suggestion:
Call your salesperson and request a good and thorough demo of ALL features BEFORE all papers are signed, because you will not buy a car with malfunctions and/or defects.
You'll get the proverbial, "everything is covered under the warranty for 4 years, blablabla..."
Remember, it will a big inconvenience to come back and have things fixed AFTER delivery. Then you'll be dealing with the service dept., - which may or may not like the sales dept. It's better to wait till next week and pick up a PERFECT new car.
Good luck.

Roads
First, good luck tomorrow. Regarding meets on Long Island, the only ones I have gone to have been through the Mercedes-Benz Club of America. They have been fine, and typically sponsor some events out on the east end at the wineries, etc. To join, call 800-637-2360. (Membership also includes six issues of STAR magazine.)
Regarding roads, I think there are two areas in which the roads are as nice as the destinations. First are the roads around West Point. Particularly 218 heading north of West Point to Cornwall. Also, Route 9W south of West Point. Also, Route 9 both north and south of West Point. West Point is a great destination, with a nice dining facility at the Hotel Thayer. Unfortunately, it is still under tight security. Second, and closer to home, is a trip to Montauk. Once you get off the LIE at William Floyd Pkwy or Route 111 and onto 27 it becomes more scenic. Or, if you prefer, head out to Orient Point on 25, passing nearly every winery on the north fork. In either case, lots of good restaurants on the way.
