MB Hood Emblem

Just wondering why so many people take off the Mercedes Benz Hood emblem? Does it mean you have worked the car? Does the replacement emblem come part of a package? Or does it just look plain "cooler" without it..

I think that the flat MB emblem looks much sportier than the "gunsight" star. Combining that with pre-painted lenses, to replace the stock orange sidemarkers, is a great low cost aesthetic upgrade.

i think the mb star only looks cool on the sedans, like if you are rolling on a s-class w/ dubs or a G wagon.

When I saw the traditional vertical hood MB STAR on the racing CLK-DTM, I was convinced, that it belongs on my hood as originally designed by the first-class CLK design team for the 208 series.

Why flat hood emblem?

I just got one for my CLK 320 for three reasons, none of which is earthshaking:
1. I think the car looks a little sportier with it; I've always associated the upright emblem with stodgy MB sedans.
2. The upright emblem is a target for petty vandals.
3. The upright emblem snags on my car cover.

How much does is cost?

Contemplating changing to a flat emblem - approx how much does this cost and how easy is it to change (i.e. dealership or self?).

How much does is cost?
1/3 more in Canadian $$$.

Part costs around US $35. Dealer will charge probably 1/2 hour for labour.

The flat emblem kit can easily be installed in 5 minutes, and does not require paying $50 in labor to the dealer.

Paying the dealer to change the hood emblem to a flat one????

Like Mach says, it can be EASILY changed with just a 10mm socket and your hands.

Cost of flat hood emblem

At an MB dealer, the part runs $60 to $70. At Evosport, it's $42.
