comand installs eastcoast and LA/Bay

I am starting my preparations for my next US comand install trip (last week of august/first 2 weeks of september) so if anyone is interested in an installed refurbished euro spec comand with 3 month warranty (1400USD), please mail me at s_krabbenborg@hotmail.com .

Before starting asking questions, please do a search on comand and or MBenzNL to read more about the system and my work/feedback... Link to comand related MBWorld threads .

Some example pictures of previously installed comand systems can be found here (several pages with pictures) .

I will be in California (Bay area and LA area) for sure and might go to the NY, Boston and/or Washington area as well but that depends on the confirmed installs needed to make it worthwhile for me.

greetingz,

Alright, I have a month to start saving up some cash. How far in advance do you need us to schedule with you?

Mail me about the DC area...where ever I go depends on the number of comands I can install, time I have and additional travelling costs that need to be paid for...

Scheduling with me needs to be done as soon as possible so I will be knowing what parts to ship where...parts can get stuck at US customs for 1-2 weeks...

it is a DIY job... but it is seldom that you find a COMAND system for the same price.

Plus, that link goes to a DIY for a ML series COMAND system, and I think the CLK COMAND looks better, and fits perfectly....

Will this really work on a 208? Is it this easy? I can't believe that it is...if so, why does the dealer give us so much crap for this retrofit that, accotiding to the site, only takes 2 hours and about $1000.00?

It is a fairly simple concept... if you know how to install an Aftermarket Head Unit in a car, i think you have already grasped about 75% of the project....

The rest of the 25% rests in your knowledge on how to remove all the panels and gain access to the wires & outlets.. and, how to remap/splice the wires with new plugs to plug into the COMAND

Btw, Steve, with that ML Screen, do you think it would even fold down with the gear in Drive??

If you want the screen to flip down while in drive....

All you have to do is ground a cetain wire that normally connects to the parking brake lead. Cheers.

Alright I am in the DC are too and want a command system. I have a couple of quick questions. Is the 1400 for the unit and the install and if not can I get a total price for everything. I would also like to be able to watch TV and play DVD's as I am sure some other people would. Could you please give a price for parts and labor. Actually I am not sure if you have a parts and labor price list somewhere if you do a link would be greatly appreciated. Also do you need a deposit from us and if so how much?

Do you have any new command units if so how much?
I see from some of the links that you do the steering wheels, do you supply the wheels or do we and if so how much?

How much for heated seats?

Sorry if you answered all these before I looked around but I did not see them anywhere in the links. I saw a couple of prices but not sure if they are the same.

thanks

The dealer just tells you what they read in their mercedes bulletins and documents...mercedes Stuttgart states that comand cannot be retrfitted so why would they bother (that is not only in the US but is in europe the exact same...hence the reason why I do comand installs for a couple of Dutch MB dealerships nowadays ).

Do a search on comand in this specific CLK section and you will find multiple members that had a comand installed in their car...some example pictures can be found here:
