The 6 disk changer in the trunk is really irritating me... has anyone found a place to put it inside the car somewhere, or any other solution?

I guess i'm just damn lazy, and i remember when i'm driving on the frwy that i wanna change out the cds.....

thanks

how do you expect to swap out a cd while driving 65mph on a freeway even if the changer sat on your lap?

Stay far away from the swearving CLK?

I think you need a single disc in-dash cd player and just leave your top 6 played discs in the trunk.

there is always the option of having your passenger change cartridges while you are driving...

I think the main argument here is that there is no REAL reason to have to change a CD by going all the way to the TRUNK... rather, changing them in the comfort of your cabin...

but lets see, it won't fit in the glove compartment, it won't fit in the armrest console, can't fit under the seat... so, there aren't many places to stick it.

But, yeah, I agree that an in-dash cd is more convenient...

Thanks guys.... i didnt mean i actually wanted to change cd's while driving.... just that i dont think of music till i sit in my car, and then its too late to change cds...

i didn't know that u can also get an option for in dash cd player for the clk....... i bought my car used, so i figured the way the dash was set up, all you could get was a changer in the trunk.....

man i'm bummed to find out it wont fit anywhere in the cabin...

hahaha I had the same situation when coming home from Conneticutt on 84east. I was thinking to myself damn wouldn't it be nice to put in this cd that my friend had in his bag. Then I tried to find solutions for this for later encounters. Obviously the cabin has very little room so scratch that. The only thing I could think of is what mmgrad already said. Just add another cd receiver and use the trunk cd changer for your best cds. For the indash cd player though I would go for a mp3 cd player that way you can fit as many songs as you can without having to change the cd.

What about a mod that would use the gap in between the two back seats. I don't know what's underneath that space but I always thought that was such a wasted area. There's been threads on what people use that space for (owner's manual, water bottles, teddy bears, tissue boxes) but I don't think anyone's thought of putting the changer in that spot.

no... there is no option for a in dash cd from MB... other than getting the COMAND system, which will run you about $2,000 as an option package...

There is always the option of getting a Euro headunit which has a in-dash CD, and it has a complete factory look...

Samoan_Ridah, I too thought about that... but, its not wide enough... it is big enough to fit the opening for the cartridge, BUT, not big enough to fit the rest of the changer... without a passenger sitting on the unit itself...

I was thinking more along the lines of setting the changer the way it is in the trunk but in that space. Like maybe if you could cut out that area and have a shop make a custom encasement. The top would be flush with the seats or even recessed a little and you could have a nice cover put on so it would also be discreet.

Maybe if you posted a pic of that spot we could all get a better idea of what I'm talking about.

It would be hard to reach if you put a changer bak there. I thoought of that too, but its not practical too uncomfortable. I use it to hold my dvds that I buy at the mall.

Agreed!!! I think, if you are willing to gut the inside of your glove compartment, you should be able to put the changer inside... And its not like the glove compartment is big enough to actually hold anything useful neways...

Although, I'm not sure if the door will open low enough for the cartridge to be inserted...

Let me search the forum... and show u a pic someone did once..

I remember a while back that someone on the forum actually mounted a headunit or something in place of the glove compartment.... you'd have to STFF to find it...
