upgrade side view mirror with the blinkers

1999 mercedes CLK 430
upgrade side view mirror with the blinkers
i have a 1999 CLK 430 and i want to up grade my side view mirror to the one that have the Blinkers. have any one every did the modifications before ? will it work ?

I haven't done it but my guess would be that if your car didn't come with them it is probably not wired for them so if you are good at that kinda thing I'm sure you could make it work. Now that I say that, I think Williams007 went with that upgrade. Jump in here Jimmy

2000 CLK 320
Luckily my CLK is a 2000 which came with the side view blinker mirrors. The only thing I changed out was I changed it to LED. The mod shouldn't be that hard, for pre 2000 cars, just buy the assy and tap into the turn signal wire probably from the fender.

If you buy the after market mirrors with blinkers on eBay they would work perfect but if you want the oem ones ten you have to change the whole mirror assembly because the inside skeleton and the part that mounts to the body are different between old and newer models. But the eBay ones are designed to work with the prefacelift. All you have to do is just replace the housing and front frame which comes in the package when you get te eBay ones. After that all you have to do is run the wires from your fenders to the inside and then through the door tunnel and to the mirrors. Visually both mirrors look alike but internals and gapings are different so you will have to for with eBay ones or get the whole oem setup complete. I know this for a fact because I did this a few years ago and found out the hard way. Hope this helps.

There is no modifying with the OEM ones that can be done, you have to completely change the whole complete mirror assembly which includes the plastic triangle piece that mounts against the door, the front and back plastic pure of the mirror housing an the skeleton that is inside and everything mounts to(the piece that holds te mirror assembly together and folds) also the newer ones have a different wiring inside the mirror and two of the clips are different because the old style mirrors and wiring harness operated the mirror motor with 5 wires but the new style only uses 4 wires. Trust you are gonna spend a lot of money doing it as oppose to buying the aftermarket covers (either the new style V shaped LEDs orthe original style LED bar) for $130 and mounting it right on and just running two wires on each side. They look identical to the oem and and same quality and probably better quality than any used oem mirrors that u can find because you also have to remember if you buy used mirrors the plastic parts that the acres and clips go on are old and dry and will brake very easy. But that's jut my experience talking if you are up for the challenge and think you can do the complete conversion then I say you go for it after all I just converted a prefacelift CLK320 to a 2002 CLK55 and did the complete body wiring harness which is a about a million times more work than doing a mirror wiring so I'm all game for challenges and if you are a little handy you can do it Im just giving you the fast and economical way of achieving the look and the function.
