CLK 430 Supercharged - Need help
Hi.
I install vortech v1 blower on my 99 clk 430. It`s make 7-8 psi boost. Everything is stock , it`s only have adjustable maf resistor and 12:1 FMU. I went to dyno 2 days ago and i wasn`t real happy with the results. Its running lean. I order bigger injectors 370cc instead of my 197cc. Do you guys think this will solve my problem.
Is it possible to reduce the timing and advance on this ECUs and who can do it.
Thanks.

As with any supercharger application your going to need a proper tune to go with it. Especially being a custom application like yours you certainly should find someone experienced with Mercedes and able to tune it on a dyno. Im not sure of who does custom tunes but im sure someone else can chime in if you give us your area. These cars are much more advanced than a domestic v8 like ls motors where you can stick a supercharger on it and make instant power and not need a tune straight away. But thats a sick setup you have there man and i cant way to see how it performs with a proper tune. Another member on here hit 246rwhp with just pullies, filter, exhaust. Also the bigger injectors are a must.

Did a search in your area, here is a shop that is praised on the e55 forums.

Im located in Virginia Beach VA.
I found one place in Maryland "SpeedTuningUSA" , they say "Yes we could reduce the timing and advance the fueling and do a couple other adjustments for your setup. A custom tuning would be US$ 375.00, would include future changes if necessary."
They say ship your ECU , and we can tune it without the car on the dyno , just tell us your set up , injector size ... Is that possible ??

Yes thats very possible, lots of people do mail order custom tunes. That is a really good price but i would first search the forum and the internet for reviews of that particular shops tunes. A tune like this should help but i doubt without actually having the car dyno tuned by a respectable Mercedes tuning shop your gains will be what they should.

Your stock injectors are fine because they are only running about 50% cycle so as far as my knowledge goes you don't need to change them as tey are no where near running max cycle. It's your ME/ECU that's not sending the signal for more fuel. The fuel pumps and injectors on these cars very under used and are capable of much more but your ME restricts it. You have to get someone with the Star system to change your fuel MAP. Unfortunately because yours is a custom setup there isn't a MAP there already so they will have to play with it on the dyno in order to get the proper results as oppose to a setup like Kerman that there plenty of ready to go MAPs for but it's not hard you can get it done. Hope this helped, I just did a 320 to 55 conversion and learned a lot from it an had many good people help me along the way so now it's my turn to share. Btw sick CLK!

I'd suggest you need a professional tuner with MB experience and a dyno. A 'bolt' on tune isn't going to cut. He'll also be able to tell you if the injector % is approaching the level you need to increase the size. Even the 'simple' ls doesn't always perform well unless tuned professionally, (LS3, ask me how I know

Oh crap. Way too lean. Going to **** up the motor running like that. What a terrible result, I really hope you fix it man! Try Jerry at eurocharged. He tuned my supercharged CL55 and does excellent work. He can do a remote tune using your laptop.
That car should be putting down at least 320-340 rwhp..

BTW, this is what you need. I hope there's a way to hook one up to your motor. It's a MSD boost timing box, that retards the ignition as boost pressure rises.

"The 6 BTM is ideal for engines with a turbo or supercharger. Not only will the engine benefit from MSD's full power CD sparks, but there is also an adjustable boost/timing retard circuit to prevent detonation. When your turbo or blower forces the air/fuel mixture into the engine, the cylinder pressure inside the combustion chamber increases. The result is a great increase in power but this can also lead to detonation that can result in severe engine damage. The 6 BTM lets you dial away detonation by retarding the timing in relation to the boost pressure.A dash mounted control knob lets you adjust the amount of timing retard. It can be adjusted from 0 degrees per pound of boost to 3 degrees per pound (up to 15 degrees). The 6 BTM also shares the Soft Touch Rev Control of the 6AL Ignition for overrev protection. The BTM is supplied with rubber shock mounts and rpm modules for 3,000, 6,000, 7,000 and 8,000 rpm."

Please let us know how the chip feels, cos i live about less than 25 mins away from their shop in Spencerville. Im just very hesitant on getting this done, as you know a new ECU cost's like over a grand or more to replace. Im also hearing that they run the cars timing to rich?, im not a mechanic so not sure if this is a bad thing.
