found tinted style amg lamps.
A friend just emailed me with this link.www.smokedlamps.com Supposedly they can tint only the white part so as to make it look like an amg look.

It's actually not as dark as it seems. In person it looks lighter. I think its the time of day and weather I'm taking the pics in. In person you could still see the red of the lights a bit and the white blinkers. If I ever get a good enough pic of them I plan to post again.

so if i understand this right, the price only includes the painting of your existing tail lights? and not for a new painted set of tail lights? i was under the impression that the price included a new set of painted lights.... so if i am local LA, can i simply go to the shop and have it done ???

It will cheaper if you live in the area because you will be paying for the labor and not additional for lamp. I think even if you are out of state you can still send them yours. I think the prices on their site are for new ones.

OTOH, I personally would like to see an aftermarket company come out with a lens that is actually more transparent. I think the lenses on the w208 are way too translucent. Too outdated.

I guess to each his own, everyone has a preference of how light or dark or how much of the light they want smoked.
I was never too crazy about just the white part being smoked but thuged_out's lights look good. Probably the nicest I've seen so far.

another question about the completely blacked out tail lights.... how much does the paint reduce the brightness of the lights at night? im wondering if it severly reduces the distance away from a car behind you can see you....

The reverse bulbs are a little dimmer, but that depends on how much you get it tinted.
But during the day, that is almost another story in itself... day time luminance is reduced a little more...
