if you are going for that XENON look, then, i would recommend PIAA bulbs. They last longer than most other JDM stuff, but they can be a little pricey... usually in the neighborhood of about $50 a set, compared to near $10-15 a set of generic JDM stuff...

oh yeah, i also use to have CATZ (by FET-USA) and they were very very good, very bright, and durable... but I'm not sure if they make bluish-xenon bulbs... they do have extremely white bulbs, which is what i had in the past...

I just changed my bulbs coz one of them burned out. Someone mentioned on the board, and along the reviews I've been reading, that Philips Vision Plus seem to put out the most light. They're certainly brighter and whiter than the stock bulbs and no hint of blue. I got them shipped for almost $50. Sorry, no pics.

If you have a car that is certified for use in the USA, the headlights will have the bulb types engraved/molded right in the headlight lens.

well, if you really want to search for it, then you can also find it in the manual, or just pull the old bulb out, it will be printed on the base of the bulb itself too.

but, unless you have Xenons, which are D2R, your halogen bulbs are going to be H7.

Sounds a lot easier to look at the front of the headlight!

Also, that way one doesn't need to trust what one reads on the internet... then again, if it's on the internet, it must be true.

danny.
what about the smaller lights that are on the left and right of the headlights. Have you replaced those ones? and what model are those?

Yes, i've replaced those with plenty of different types of bulbs, none are really worth the time or effort, unless you just want to get rid of that yellow light.

all aftermarket bulbs for those 'city lights' are very dim, and some are quite blue (LEDs). the bulbs are commonly referred to as City Lights, technical reference is H6W.

Most commonly available replacement is the Polarg M17 bulb, avaliable at practically all ricer shops. 2 versions exists, the old version of the M17 is a painted bulb, the new version is a dyed glass. The new version is a little brighter, but not by a whole lot.

oh yea, you are referring to those tiny bulbs that share a home with the high beams, right?

just finished changing out my headlight bulbs. WHEW! not that easy of a task, especially the driver's side one, if you have big hands. I really like the white light compared to the yellowish stock color.

don't bother with those computers... they are not very accurate...

H1's are not your driving lights.... H1 bulb may potentially be your fog light, depending on which CLK you have...

CLK 320 uses H1 for foglight
CLK 430/55 uses H3 for foglight

All CLK use H7 for High beam & Low Beam
All CLK use H6W for City Light/Driving Lights

do you have to worry about messing anything up when changing the city lights (park lights)? I just ordered the PIAA 19169's and don't know what I'm doing. I'll do a search...someone must have posted how to change those bulbs. I don't want to mess up the regular headlights or high beams.

I've got a 2000 e320 and am trying to find some better high beams. I've just installed some european xenons and the high beams are yellow - not just compared to the Xenon lowbeam, but compared to the fog lights (in the bumper). I checked the bulbs and they're 55w h7s.

Are you saying that the changing the high beams to the Sylania was brighter, as well as whiter? I need all the light I can get because I live in the country with a lot of deer.

yes. the slyvanias were brighter and whiter. If you have xenons already, i don't think they will compare to that though.

Thanks, but I think the only other alternative is buy a xenon kit for the high beam, which I think is too expensive.
